Leicester City youngster George Thomas has joined EFL League One side Scunthorpe United on loan for the 2018/19 season.

The 21-year-old midfielder joined the Foxes from Coventry City in August 2017 and went on to enjoy an outstanding season as part of the Club’s Development Squad last term.

His contribution helped them achieve a third-place finish in Premier League 2 as well as earning himself a debut for the Wales national team against Mexico in May, after having represented them at Under-17, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 levels.

The Leicester-born Thomas came through the ranks at Coventry City and made his debut for the Sky Blues as a 16-year-old in January 2014. He continued to produce impressive performances, including at Wembley in the 2017 EFL Trophy Final, when he scored the winning goal against Oxford United.

He also took in a loan spell with Yeovil Town during the 2015/16 season and will now continue his progression with Scunthorpe United, who begin their League One season away at Thomas’ former club Coventry City on Saturday afternoon.

He may have the skills, but the Valencia game showed he had little pace.

who else should have played? They are protecting a minor foot problem for Gray so he wasn't used, NDukwu had already come on what other wingers do the U23s have, genuine question as the only 2 I am aware of are those 2

But he'd played for the under 23s earlier in the day, which I'm sure did him more good in terms of match fitness than 15 minutes against Valencia would have done

he's played CM in a 433 when used for us in this pre season so probably not considered a winger

1. Perhaps the loan deal wasn't complete by then and we decided to give the lad some match practise.
2. Perhaps the loan deal was complete but we decided to give the lad some match practise because, well, he's our player, we have a professional responsibility for him and he needs to train.
3. Perhaps he was available and others weren't.
4. Perhaps we still need to know what his weaknesses and strengths are so he can work on them whilst on loan.
5. Perhaps he wanted a run out and asked for time on the pitch.

Not every single tiny thing is an excuse for you to express dismay at Puel. Many people aren't convinced, me included but this constant criticism of him for doing anything at all is just a bit odd.
 
Waah waah we never give the kids a chance etc....
