We've started to get that Spursy thing going on though. The wanky handshakes and giggly twatishness.

My thought as I saw Maddison and Chilwell doing their 'celebration' was that we were missing the influence of the likes of Huth and Wasyl in the dressing room telling the pair of them to stop being kiddy twats and concentrate on actually becoming successful players.

I hated it for its cringe factor. What can you do? We are just old. I’ll forever miss Huth, Cambiasso, Taggart, Elliott and their ilk.

In my day

Not relevant. The rules change almost every year.

it was merely a hard tackle

Actually, a tackle like that has always been dangerous because guess what, people are made of the exact same materials now as they’ve always been.

I've seen it on MOTD and really do not think it was a straight red, not even a yellow. He got the ball in a 50;50 and kept his feet low.

None of this is correct, at all. In fact, I’m seriously doubting your claim to have seen it if you think he kept his foot low when charging studs first into the lad’s knee.

But yes in todays game I suppose its not encouraged among the prima donnas

Nothing to do with “prima donnas” either, I’m sick to death of this myth that footballers in these obscurely-defined old days used to be tougher and therefore better. They were neither.

but I bet on the parks today it will be common place, unpunished and the players will get up and get on with the game.

Not if it breaks someone’s leg. I suspect you’ve not seen much grassroots football recently.

It’s a red. We could talk all day about what happened years ago, or in park football and you may or may not be correct.

In the Premier League that is a red card and I don’t even think it’s debatable.
At the time, from the back of the Kop, I thought Vardy had eased up and then made a very firm but fair slide tackle. On second viewing, he deliberately waited to make sure he could follow through and hurt the bloke. Stupid, ugly tackle.

Not to mention that the guy, Doherty had already scored one for us and missed an open goal. Deserved a pat on the back, if anything.

People are being a bit negative. There were both good and bad points.

We kept a clean sheet despite some poor work by the back four. This was partly due to the excellence of Mendy, Maddison and Ndidi. I can understand Maddison being man of the match although I would have picked Mendy. We already guessed Maddison was good but Mendy was a revelation. I cannot remember Silva or Iborra playing as well.

Apart from his part in the first goal I thought Albrighton was poor. He came off scowling. This was not mardiness at being substituted. This was a man who remembered the prayer book "We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done

This was the first time I have seen Nuno the Wolves manager. I like him. Whatever was happening in the match he remained affable. His dress sense is interesting; he makes Klopp look elegant. I was reminded of lines from Wodehouse:
People have asked the name of my tailor Jeeves.
Doubtless to avoid him Sir.

Wodehouse & scripture? You're on a one man crusade to raise the bar on this forum.

Yes. Last season it was wider and slightly plastic coated. Yesterday narrow and seemingly just card. Last season it lasted until around the last quarter of the game before breaking up, yesterday it was in pieces before half time.

Suppose it also depends on how often you bash your clacker during the game.

Anyway, shoddy clackers I can put up with. My biggest gripe is with the ****ing banner in the kop. Sure it looks great from three sides of the ground but when you are stuck underneath the bastard thing on a muggy humid day and can't see **** all on the pitch whilst the teams come out and have to stand up with your arms outstretched to keep the filthy bastard plaggy cover off your head and give yourself some breathing space and try to help a wife who gets slightly claustrophobic.........

Yeah you mean well you lads in the top corner, but forfoxsake have some consideration and stick to pitchside banners in future.
Just for you, Spion:

Absolute credit and respect for those that take the time and effort to do these things.

I had no idea what it said before seeing this video. Looked great to those that could observe it. Including the Union FS lads that don't sit have to stand underneath it either.

All that planning was let down by poor execution on the day. Think it through better next time and no doubt those of us you pissed off on Saturday will be back onside.

I don't mind holding up the coloured squares to make up the mosaic but I went to watch the game and that includes all the build up including the players coming out onto the pitch. Not to spend 10 minutes stuck under some smelly sweaty piece of plastic that I had no choice about. Even worse when it's the first home game of the season.

Christ I hate those things, and I have no time at all for the entitled ****wits who insist on doing things that affect others’ enjoyment of the occasion.

Surely they are the opposite of entitled in that they are trying to do something for others in creating a better atmosphere?

If they were entitled they would be on a forum or such like just moaning and not actually doing anything about their moans.

At least they are trying to do something positive.

It’s nothing to do with atmosphere and everything to do with disregarding the wishes and needs of hundreds of other fans just so they can have their moment of attention. They’ve even put a feckin’ video on YouTube.

If they were entitled they would be on a forum or such like just moaning and not actually doing anything about their moans.
No, they’d be cobbling together some giant filthy piece of plastic because they think paying for a season ticket means they’ve bought the right to block the view of almost an entire stand. Did they ask anyone about medical conditions beforehand? Did they consider claustrophobia, autism, anxiety? Did they make sure everyone would be healthy and happy living under a plastic sheet for several minutes? Did they ****. They just did what they wanted without giving a shit.

At least they are trying to do something positive.
Not really. In the video, are ya?

I can’t see why they can’t hoist it up to hang from the top of the stand?

I can’t see why they can’t hoist it up to hang from the top of the stand?

Because some miserable ****er will moan about that as well, oh no they already did when they did some amazing displays in the Champions League.

I'm delighted they keep it up, would be absolutely toss down that ground if it wasn't for them trying g to keep the atmosphere ticking.
