Puel out?

Albrighton in the Merc today playing down reports of "player unrest" and reluctance to play the way CP wants to.

I for one am sick of these sorts of reports. They're so divisive even just as rumours. If they're fake then I'm sick of them. And if they have some substance I just wonder if we have a bunch of arseholes as players three seasons on the trot who apparently can't manage to play football other than how they play in their own minds. Either way I'm fed up with this crap.

I just want my team to play good football but at the very least do the following:

- compete in every match
- not fall apart from the first whistle
- give as much effort as possible to win as a team
- the manager make sensible, and painstakingly obvious decisions when selecting a team such as our dilemma at the back and making subs.
- we put out our best possible 11 every match

Either way I reckon the magic match number 10 will be a clear indication of Puel's future.

I really hope it isn't like the first five matches - somewhat wishy-washy. I hope we clearly win and perform well but if we are to lose, I want it to be properly - i.e., it's obvious and clear that we're absolutely shit and I don't think it's completely and totally obvious that we're absolutely crap, we're not too far off though.

If he goes in, we'll be looking at the likes of Brendan Rodgers to come in....

Huddersfield at home.
Newcastle away.
Everton at home.

International break.

It might be tempting for those in power to try to evaluate things at that point, 8 games into the season.

Arsenal away.
West Ham at home.
Cardiff away
Burnley at home.

International break.

Another logical time to look at things, this time 11 games into the season.

I'm not advocating anything here, as a lot will depend on how the games go, but they would be two fairly reasonably times for things to be considered.

I agree to an extent with the second half. Although I'd question the logic of 8 games plus 4 games getting us to the 11 games played...

To me those first 3 games only show anything if they go totally one way or the other. I'd expect 5 points from that. 4 or 6 doesn't really change anything. Get 0 or 9 and it's a big difference in overall opinion on Puel.

I think the 8 game point is too soon to judge. But at that 12 Game Mark you'd expect a better idea - and I'm positive it will start to come good in that time.

I agree on this in general though. I wasn't necessarily suggesting that 8 games is time to make a judgement, just that the international break appears a logical time to evaluate things. Having said that, as you imply, if the next 3 fixtures don't go well, I suspect it will probably put some real pressure on the club to really consider their options.

I reckon they'll make that decision at the 12 game mark.

I just hate the fact that if he does go then it would be the third consecutivr managerial change in the middle of the season.

It's safe to say that if he does go that his appointment was one of the very few poor decisions made by owners.

Let's hope the next appointment is someone exciting and a well-thought out option. Really go for it rather than getting someone like Sam Allaradyce.

It looks that way to m. I said give him time, no significant improvement over last years showings IMO. That Bournemouth game showed us up for how we have not changed one iota defensively. IMO we should make an approach for Benitez.

IF we could get Benitez, I would gladly make the switch immediately.

Slavisa Jokanovic would be ideal for me.

That would make a lot of sense given the transfer business we’ve done over the last few windows too. Possession football just not at a plodding tempo.

Chill out

We have three pretty comfortable games coming up, and even he can't feck those up

They won't sack him while we are winning games, even if we look poor in doing so, and that's fair enough

I may have missed something here. Why is Everton comfortable?

Purely my opinion, but a home match against any of the 'middle' group of teams should be reasonably comfortable. Always a risk in this League, but we shouldn't be scared about home games to the likes of Everton, Palace, Fulham, Bournemouth etc.

Huddersfield and Newcastle are knock ins

Well, sure, but then last time we played Palace at home...
