Fantastic.

Worth an absolute fortune. Properly managed into the side over a number of years and now paying off in spades.

Thank God we had Fuchs when we did, it allowed Chilwell to develop naturally.

Should be a lesson in being patient with youngsters learning their trade at the highest level. I’m fairly certain there were a number of posts on here last year already suggesting he’d never make it in the PL.

they were also using it as a reason to sack the manager

I thought he was a massive liability defensively last season and still think he's a bit of a one now. Nothing compared to whichever other 3 hes playing with of course. He's benefited from a good run in the side which has helped his progression and value. Many who wanted a change last season were concerned we were giving time for players that may come good over a chance to get into Europe. Chilwell now has a great price tag and we've still **** all chance of a European spot.....financially for the club that's much better though, such is football. Sell em high, finish meh.

Pleased for him as a player though.

Signing a contract like this is hardly the actions of a newly minted England player who is unhappy with the management at the club

In reality however most people were far more rational than you both assert. There were lots of us who thought he was very poor defensively last season and in truth, he was. I still don't think he's a great defender and as a LB he's always going to be a bit of a gamble. He's made a lot of progress as a forward looking player this season and has proven himself to be very effective. He will be a very good LWB under a manager with a strategy. He's also improved a lot defensively but let's not pretend he's wonderfully adept at defending all of a sudden.

Probably not. It may be the action of a kid who has just been offered millions of pounds though ...
