On the Puel out Thread showing top flight season For Arsenal it says ( in font 6)

"*Arsenal were "elected" to the Top Flight in season 1919-20. They remain the only club since the formation of the Football League in 1888-89 who never earnt their place on merit."

Elected? Never earned their place? - About time City put them back where they belong !!

Part of the rivalry between them and Tottenham stems from that "election." Spurs lost their Div. 1 status to Arsenal due to it.
