The match is insignificant after recent events, but as long as that was the decision of the players, staff and Vichai’s family, I’m happy with that.

I would go with:

Schmeichel

Ricardo
Morgan
Maguire
Soyuncu
Chilwell

Mendy
Maddison
Ndidi

Vardy
Iheanacho

14-0 Leicester. 1 goal by each player incl subs as a tribute to Vichai.

Kasper

Ricardo Soyuncu Maguire Chilwell

Iborra NDidi

Albrighton Maddison Gray

Vardy

This is what I think it will be.

This is the first time I have not given a damn about the result of a Leicester game. There will no doubt have been serious discussions involving Susan Whelan, Jon Rudkin and Claude Puel. They will have had a difficult decision to make and decided it is best for players to "get back in the saddle."
It may be that the best team on paper would include players who are not ready. For this match we should not try and second guess Puel's team selection.
People are usually not as ready as they think. The referee might find this a difficult game.

Obviously the club was right to postpone the Southampton game. I could not have faced going and I am sure this is true for many other supporters.

I remember going to Watford when football resumed after the Hillsborough tragedy; it was a very strange day , difficult to concentrate with my mind floating elsewhere. I expect people will find it the same for this game.

Undoubtedly the players will have been consulted on this, to see how they felt about playing. The Premier League and Cardiff have been unbelievably supportive, given these exceptional circumstances and if they didn’t feel they could take the field the match would’ve been postponed. Tragedy brings people together and having been in amateur team environments which have experienced similar unexpected deaths, there becomes a feeling of strength. It unites people to be pulling for one cause, ‘we’re all in it together ‘. I never speculate on team selection, pointless as we are not insiders, but one thing I will guarantee is any pre-match pep talk will be very simple this week.

The score does not matter. Let’s just apply ourselves and do him proud. The players I am sure will not need any motivating. Not this time.

Under normal circumstances a game we would be expected to win. However it will depend on the players mental awareness/concentration I think the team will be determined to put in a good performance I hope Soyuncu keeps his place and maybe Ricardo dropping to full back with Albrighton out wide. Agame im sensing we can win 1-2 Vardy Gray

As others have said, the result doesn't really matter here and neither does the team selection.

I feel like some players may not be ready to play. Others may feel like they are and turn out not to be when they step out on the pitch.

Grief is an incredibly personal and unpredictable sensation, that affects us in ways we don't even realise.

I'd love for them to put in a great performance to make Vichai proud, but can't blame anyone involved if they don't.

An incredibly difficult job to select this team. Can't imagine how you even begin to do it.
I think you just ask each of the players individually if they’re up for playing, and then choose the team accordingly.

I suspect you ask the players and go from there. Any player will be perfectly understood if they say they’re not feeling up to it, but you take their guidance as to how they feel and use that as a basis to go forward.

For what it’s worth, given that the game is going ahead, I suspect many will have said that they want to play already.

I hope we play them off the park. I hope we play freely with passion, desire, skill, exuberance and pride. I hope we show the world we are strong in a moment of such grief.

I am going to struggle to hold it together.
