We don't need another defensive/battler type midfielder like Delph when we already have 3 of those on our books.
Our midfield problem is that we only have this type of player that gets a game so to add another one into the mix wouldn't help.
Maguire is more likely to bomb forward with the ball rather than any of our centre mids who all just like to come deep to get the ball from the defence but then just knock it out wide or are able to offer anything very inventive.
We obviously hoped Silva would have been the answer to this but that hasn't worked for whatever reason but we desperately need to offer something more inventive in the middle of the park.
What we have is perfect to set up against teams where we will have less of the ball and generally playing on the back foot but we need to offer something more when playing teams who are happy to sit off us.
Someone live Neves from Wolves would be perfect, I don't think we could get him but we need to look to add something to the squad rather than another playing who is very similar to what we already have.

Sturridge is a good shout. I'm not his biggest fan, but would be sensible.
Undoubted talent, used to playing second fiddle and having to come off the bench and make an impact. He seems to break down with too many games, and we won't need him to be first choice.

I'd take both at the drop of a hat. Sturridge has been fit all season, and not making the first eleven of my bet for the champions does not make him not-good-enough for us - in fact there are times I think he's magical. Delph needs games, but he really has got it all, much more than a deep-sitting destroyer he's got a good range of passing and mobility too.
Would be very surprised if we could attract either to come here sadly.

I think we could get Sturridge but not Delph, though if Pep does want Chilwell the bidding starts at £60m + Delph IMO

I like the bargaining approach. There's also the question of whether they'd come here though - to be honest I'd be a little disappointed in any player on the fringes of the England squad who would rather player for us, in the EPL but not in Europe, instead of go to a German, Italian of Spanish club in Europe competition.
