20 minutes in to hear the darts player Adrian Lewis ordering some meats in a restaurant.

‘14 ****ing ounces of hot muscle. What are you trying to do to me you meaty hero?’

You’ve urged me in the past to get on with watching Better Call Saul. I’ve done the first two series since Christmas and I absolutely ****ing love it. I carry out daily, mundane tasks now imagining that I’m Mike going about his Mike business.

Perfect springboard into watching Breaking Bad for the third time too.

I've just finished my third run of Breaking Bad. I can't think of a better series ever. On my third viewing, I found a new appreciation for Skyler after tutting at her every scene second time around.

What I love most about BCS is that it doesn't try to be the same. Despite some of the same characters, it's more delicately written and thought out. Some of the story lines take two series to make sense without ever annoying the viewer. Series 3 and 4 move it more towards BB and series 5 is in production now.

*Spoilers, kinda. Not that anyone other than BN will read this.

I’m the same with Skylar, found her quite one dimensional and often wondered why Walt even bothered. I love how neither one pushes a hero down your throat but still keeps your sypathies towards the characters. I’ve gone from disliking Chuck, to feeling feeling sorry for him and now at the start of series three he’s obviously going to take Jimmy down for forging those documents. Haven’t a clue how things will play out with Kim, she’s becoming my favourite character in either series, along with Mike of course.

One of the best things I can say about both of them is that you basically go into them knowing how they’ll end , Walt will die and Jimmy will lose everything, but they don’t suffer for it or try to work in any convoluted twists. I don’t watch an awful lot of series but I found stuff like House of Cards and The Walking Dead patience testing after a while.

I could quite happily watch nothing other than Deadwood, The Wire and Breaking Bad and consume nothing new to me.

How could you feel anything other than hatred for Walt after about season 2?
I don’t think I ever felt hatred for Walt, I just sympathised with him.

Skyler on the other hand...

Give Skyler another watch. She's a great character looked at in her own right. Alongside Walt, she's just a necessary whiny pest but the journey she goes on through the five series is remarkable too.

Walt is one of the great characters. A smart guy that had to watch from a distance as others got the success that his talents deserved and then gets a death sentence without the means to support his family. He spent his life making bad decisions and surviving because he was clever. As time went by, his pride and his resentment towards life just took over.

Great character. Walt is the real cancer in that family. He’s a selfish, abusive, entitled scumbag long before he becomes a serial murderer. It will forever be Cranston’s greatest role in a truly fantastic career.

Bob’s new Crime File segment starring Harry ‘the farmer’ Maguire and Jamie ‘the chin’ Vardy is another work of genius.
