I should probably have made this an American sports thread, rather than just NFL, as I'm not sure many others have any interest in this. So to avoid starting a new thread that might not go very far, I'll post in here (as I assume there might be some common interest in here):

What a huge day in baseball! I know that what's been announced has been rumoured for a while now, but still, wow.

I'll be interested to see what A Rod does next.

Putting it in a thread about NFL means people who are interested in baseball but not American football wouldn't notice it.

Major League Baseball came down heavy Monday on the players it found to have been involved with the South Florida anti-aging clinic Biogenesis, suspending Alex Rodriguez through the end of the 2014 season and banning 12 others for 50 games, including three All-Stars: Nelson Cruz of the Texas Rangers, Everth Cabrera of the San Diego Padres and Jhonny Peralta of the Detroit Tigers.

Me neither BM. Ultimately a 50 game ban is less than a third of a season, and their contract is still in place afterwards. A Rod however, is in a different place at his age and with a 211 game ban. It'll be interesting to see how he goes about keeping the circa $60M that will still be on his contract after the ban ends, and how the Yankees go about trying not to pay it.

He admitted to using PEDs when he played for Texas (before he joined the Yankees), but wasn't banned. A number of players were tested anonymously back in 2003 and quite a number came back positive (his included), but as this was supposed to be an anonymous test and testing wasn't approved back then, he wasn't suspended.

They were meant to be anonymous and destroyed, but some code came out that revealed those that had failed and it was something like 100 out of 1200 were positive and the names were then leaked. I think I'm right in saying the idea of it being "anonymous" was so that they could see whether there was a problem or not and therefore whether to bring in testing. I could be wrong though.

We went to Wrigley Field for one of their few wins this season, it was against the worst team in the game though.

My inbuilt dislike of the Yankees has meant that I've enjoyed this season so far. Roll on the playoffs.

My Wife and I witnessed far too many defeats live and in person last season. But we'll be back there in April. A game at Wrigley is always a good experience. I hope you had fun.
