Directions & Parking:

Approx 151 miles (avoiding toll bridge) - 3 hours

M69 > M6 > M42 > M5 south .....

Leave the M5 at J8 and join the M50, follow this road on to the A40, and this road through to the A449. Leave the A449 and join the M4. To avoid driving through the centre of Cardiff, leave the M4 at junction 33 and take the A4232 towards Cardiff/Barry. Keep on the A4232 towards Cardiff and then leave the dual carriageway at the B4267 exit. At the end of the slip road, turn left at the roundabout, signposted 'Cardiff International Athletics Stadium'. The stadium is situated a short distance down this road on the right.

Several private car parks dotted around the ground for approx £4-£5, the car parks on the retail outlets have strict 90 minute parking in place.

Trains:

An off peak return between Leicester & Cardiff Central is £57.10. The journey in each direction is approx 3hours & 5 mins.

Due to the time of the year, and the game only being a couple of weeks away, the really cheap singles are no longer available.

It's only possible to better the off peak return price by a couple of quid, by splitting the tickets Leicester > Birmingham & Birmingham > Cardiff.

The ground is approximately 30 minutes from Cardiff Central station. There is a closer station to the ground (Ninian Park Halt) - this is only serviced via a local train every 30 minutes from Cardiff Central station.

Pubs:

Nothing directly around the ground, and what there is around the ground is home fans only.

Plenty on offer in the city centre.

It's possible to do it for just over £40 by using three tickets:

Leicester - Nuneaton - £7.90, off peak day return
Nuneaton - Hereford - £16.20, West Midlands Day Ranger
Hereford - Ninian Park, £16.60 off peak day return.

It will take a lot longer going that way (still quicker than BM's coach though) and if you don't get the 17:15 train after the match you're unlikely to get back to Leicester the same day.

But that would be a stupid way to do it when it's cheaper and quicker to go this way:

Leicester - Birmingham: £9.40
Birmingham - Cheltenham Spa: £18
Cheltenham Spa - Cardiff, £9.90

All off peak day returns. Total price £37.30.
£2 less if you get advance singles on the Brum-Cheltenham leg.

Re: Cardiff City -19th Dec 2009 - 3pm

Yeah, I'm the mental one for going on the coach via London for less than half the price :icon_roll

:icon_wink

I'm on the coach as well. London to Cardiff = £6 return. Add that to an £11.90 off-peak day return from Ramsgate to Victoria and I've got a round-trip of over 450 miles for less than £18.

Re: Cardiff City -19th Dec 2009 - 3pm

I already know :icon_wink someone gave me this information on Saturday...

Good old Alan (who btw can only cope with the coach one way)!

Good old Alan (who btw can only cope with the coach one way)!

He's been on a lot of coaches this season already :icon_wink and he's had to put up with that nutter with the flag on more than one occasion.

Match ticket arrived this morning

The town is likely to be rammed with Christmas shoppers on the 19th.
Dont forget that the facillities in the ground are far superior to what you will have experienced in Ninian Park if you dont want the hastle of getting from the city centre to the ground after a few.
That said it's a little more expensive at £3 a pint. However you do get high def tvs showing the Pompeii V Pool game.

I thought it was obvious that Pompeii is another name for Pompey, which is another name for Portsmouth, which is another name for "complete shit hole".
The fact he spelt lava with an 'r' was enough for me. ;)

We must all be mad after yesterday.

Most of us were mad before Saturday... long before Saturday.
