Confirmed Transfer Claude Puel new manager

I can't believe some of the ignorant comments here but I guess everyone is entitled to an opinion. Why don't we trust our owners who have put in significant amounts of their own money into the club and are hugely successful in business. They have made a move which they believe will secure our success in the Premier League and will back their judgment all day long - they haven't let us down yet and gave me a title I never thought I would see in my lifetime...I have been supporting the club since the age of 8 - some 53 years ago. I will be very happy if he can make us a stable mid season team with an outside chance of the Europa League and competitive in cup competitions. Some people are clueless and living in a world of fantasy. In my view he is a very safe pair of hands with an excellent resume. He will pick teams to get results and if that means winning a few games ugly by 1-0 I will take that all day long. Onwards and upwards

I feel let down by this appointment for some reason. I cannot really explain why.

He has a decent record in France with Lyon and he even took them far in Europe that season. He did a fab job at Nice.

On the other hand he fell out with players at Southampton and played really boring to watch football. Exactly the opposite of what I want as a fan.

He did well at monaco but that was SEVENTEEN years ago, in a league that was even crappier than it is currently. I can't believe Monaco from 2000 are still being talked about. Paul Jewell did well with wigan 14 years ago, why not him?

The biggest thing that pisses me off is that people keep talking about last season. Yes he took them to a League Cup final which is excellent. I mean he lost, but good achievement. But they finished TWO points above us. Would it be as impressive had he dropped two points and ended up in 12th? Hell no. And the gap to Everton was gigantic.

Did we even go for Sean Dyche? Attempt a different manager? Try to coax Pellegrini from China?

I think Everton will bring in a top manager, probably one of our "targets."

I hope Puel can help us play good football, utlising Vardy, Mahrez and co. I hope i am wrong and he is brilliant.

In Puel we trust. I guess.

The owners have been far better than excellent but they ought to consider what or who makes the club less attractive than we would hope to potential candidates.

The more I reflect on this the more I agree with the owners that he is a perfect fit. For now.

He seems to be able to organise teams and make them hard to beat, which is what we need right now, I feel there has been a bit of a rot and a decline since our title win, and I think Puel can arrest that.

He is known for developing young players, which with our aging squad, combined with a number of highly regarded young players is a good way for our team to build.

He is not afraid to upset players, which I think is what some of our players need. There may be a couple that refuse to adapt, but if that's the case we are probably better without them in the long run.

I get the feeling that results might go bad for the first 3 or 4 games as he learns who will embrace his ideas and gets to know the squad, but I think he will be able to pull it all together sufficiently.

However if our owners are more ambitious in the long term, as I believe they are, I can't see him lasting too long. He will do a job and steady the ship, and then we we look beyond him.

Our top players may not want to stay, and he might struggle to attract players. If he does his job well we will be thanking him and saying farewell by the end of next season at the latest.

I do think he is a decent appointment for where we are now though.

It is worth treasuring the moments when you get things wrong. That way you can avoid that stupidity called certainty.

I was one of those who thought O'Neill was a disaster and who was underwhelmed by the appointment of Claudio. On the other hand I thought Peter Taylor was a good appointment and who was overjoyed by the appointment of Sven.

It is interesting to wonder how many others have a similar track record. My point is that we have no idea whether or not he will be a good appointment. As Leicester manager he is entitled to our good wishes and initial support.

Stone Cold is staying as Assistant Manager and this seems to me quite right. The man has done nothing wrong. I am less sure about Mr Rudkin.

If Claude Puel convinced our board that he knows how to move the club forward, then I think that he deserves our goodwill. Taking out our annus mirabilis, and we've flirted with relegation since returning to the Premiership. If Mr Puel can secure our status and challenge in Cup competitions, then I will be content.

Everton have been in the top division a lot longer than we have, have had much higher league finishes over the last 12 years than we have, this is why they are more attractive to some managers imo.

Our title win is bigger than all of those finishes though and as a fan that delights me but if i were a football manager it would excite me less unless we had solidly build last season into a team that challenged Everton for top 7.

Im convinced that the Leicester Stigma exists and its because of our title win. Perhaps its fan expectation. Perhaps decent managers want to see us have some higher finishes to been seen in a better light.

Let us hope that CP is the right man to take us forward - feeling a little more positive reading about Nice. Not sure about rotation but i feel that having a tactically astute manager would be good.

Although Ranieri liked a rotation policy and is tactically strong. His Nantes side are building at the back, steong defence and then working on attack with few goals scored so far. Make of that what you will....
