We pay good money too see players like Gillespie and if they can't be arsed on the pitch then we have every right to boo him! Yes he is our player but at the moment he is a disgrace!!

But will booing him make him play better?

Some players will get worse when they're booed. Gillespie looks scared to try anything, maybe it's a confidence thing, and if it is booing isn't going to help.

Hopefully he'll get dropped for the next game, but when he does play for us again we should get behind him.

My sentiments exactly.

I reckon Sky got it right when they assumed MA had picked Gillespie mainly as he may have had a point to prove against his previous employers. The trouble is, we are all very tense and aren't giving players the time to settle in. Keith Gillespie looked like a man very very low on confidence today and it doesn't help that the crowd were right on his back from his first mistake. The problem here is, is that he has talent, I reckon, and if he could re-discover some form then we will have a great supply for the likes of Ferdinand et al.

I think he should play at Man City, as he won't get as much stick away from home, and I think Scowie should drop to the bench allowing Stewart to play left-midfield. Honestly, if Gillespie comes good and starts crossing like he can, it could be the difference for safety or relegation this term.

I think Hignett should start on he right next week. Gillespie is just not performing and I think he needs to have a few games in the reserves to get his confidence back.

He is still only 29, so he's not over the hill by any means!

I was very dissappointed with Muzzy, Gillespie and Scowcroft. McKinlay wasn't too bad. Our defence was excellent, dropping Curtis and Rogers was the right decision. Bent man of the match :!: Franky Sinclair close behind.

gillespie deserved to be booed today, if a player is not playing well he needs to be told, hopefully if he knows that the crowd don't think much of him then he will work on improving,

oooooo, I don't know. It might hurt his feelings.

i think Mckinlay did a superb job today, he sat in front of that back 4 and protected them well, thats another option we can now use when Riccy is out.

i also think Dickov is very useful as a substitute...and Bent and Ferdo should start.....did you see the energy Dickov had and the way he closed down the tired Blackburn defenders!! thats what we need if things arent going so well because i reckon when he plays 90 minutes he tends to drift in and out of the game! and the last 15-20 minutes are crucial!!

Gillespie just lacks confidence when he was Newcastle and Man Utd he used to terrorise defenders...its a shame really because his crossing ability is brilliant!!!

Billy stuck to his task, not glamorous, but he worked hard throughout the game. We did miss Riccy though, he works better with Muzzy.

Dickov is very useful as a sub, coming on with 30mins to go. He lifts the spirit of the team and crowd and runs the tiring oppostion ragged. However I'd rather start him with Bent up front.

I didnt boo Gillespi off I cheered really loudly I was so pleased to see the back of him :!: I can understand MA playing him and hoping he would be fired up to play against his old club. But he was so disappointing  Souness must think he was perfectly right to get rid

the reason Gillespie was booed was not because he had a bad game it's because he doesn't even try!! All we expect is a 100% commitment from our players when they pull on our shirt!! Gillespie isn't worthy of the shirt at the moment!!

I don't blame anyone for booing and letting him know how we feel!!

I may get a lot of abuse for this but i think it was disgraceful the way we (not me) booed Gillespie off!

Yeah he was pretty bad and im not sticking up for him but we have to continue to get behind the team and not boo them!

(apart from that the crowd were all amazing especially the kop and east to a lesser extent)!

Up the City

Agree totally, though I was not there. He will always be rubbish if he thinks people are on his back.

I think its important to distinguish between supporting a player and getting on a player's back.

Thoughout the game; the whole team were poor - but the crowd were excellent. It felt excellent when the whole kop & East stand were singing for 10 mins at the end of the first half. It has been a long time since the crowd tried to get the team going rather than the other way around.

I don't think that anyone could be accused of getting on any player's back and I really think the crowd wanted Gillespie to do well. It was just that he outshone every poor performance by being our crappest player.

The cheer that went up when his name was called for substitution was a collective cheer from the crowd, who had previously said nothing about him. They spent 65 mins encouraging him and I think that the cheer that went up was as a result of every person in the ground cheering to their mates privately. It was just that everyone did the same thing and it came over quite loud.

I think it was right that he was boo'ed because despite the best efforts of the crowd - he showed us NOTHING...no commitment, no skill, no creativity, no defensive ability to speak of.....just shite. We supported him while he was on the pitch, but have every right to display our displeasure when he is leaving.

I feel gutted because out of all of the summer signings, I was looking forward to seeing him the most. I really thought he would make the most of this last chance. But he won't!!!

I don't think he should play for the club again. I would prefer to see someone of less ability, but more heart on the right. We need fighters, not over rated prima donas.

A well argued, reasoned and rational piece it would be difficult to argue against. And I don't. However when Gillespie plays again will he be judged on the performance he gives then or on his current, D-, record. If he judged on his past performances then the crowd is getting on his back, and if judged on his next performance alone and it is D- (or hopefully A+) again then he deserves what he gets.

I suppose what I am really saying is that whatever we might think of Gillespie (and in my mind the jury is still out) I hope we will be supporting next time out come what may.

A very fair post RichMC24. I along with you and I'm sure a number of other posters here, couldn't wait for Gillespie to play for us. The man has the talent, but for some reason just isn't performing, he doesn't attack players, I don't think I've seen really seen him get past the oppositions defenders once this season. If he was performing to his abilities I don't think we'd be in the position we are in now.

Its frustrating, come on Micky give him and slap and tell him to ****ing go for it.

I was, as probably most leicester fans so excited about the prospect of having Keith Gillespie in our team. After his performances so far, i've been left with a sour taste in my mouth and I am so frustrated because I know he can be an excellent player. It's down to Adams to have a word with him and try and get the best out of him, it's no use us slating him rationally. Fair enough, he deserves some critism, but we also need to pray that we see the best of him. If Adams cant get any improvement out of him, then there's no point him playing for us again! I hope he starts to play well, because if he is on fire then we're half way there. I've seen games where he has won games single handidly with his pace, trickery and crosses. We don't really have any better options on the right, unless we revert to wing backs and play either Gimpey, Curtis or Sinclair.

I always thought Alan Rogers was a good player till he came to us, perhaps we have had our arse slapped with Gillespie aswell. Perhaps he has always been fcukin shit, either way we need to address the situation. Adams should pull him in, ask him whether he thinks his performances have been acceptable and talk about what they need to do to get the best out of him. I think he will come good eventually, players often play better when the team is playing well and not in the shit! Maybe everything will pick up one day.

I think MALF has hit the nail on the head.

Never gonna happen, but we should revert back to 3-5-2. With Thatch, Frankie, Taggart/Elliot at the back we should look a lot better defensively.

Gimpy and Jordan would be adequate as the wing backs. Lets face it, playing 4-4-2 we are not getting many crosses in so no loss there.

This leaves Mckinlay and Scimmy as defensive midfielders, with a varying license to push forward and allows Muzzy the freedom to support the front two, which is by far his best role.

The only downside to this is the lack of width, but watching them play this season, the wing seems to be rarely used as a means of attack. Most crosses are coming in from the full backs after being knocked back by scowy/gillespie.

The only time we get round the back of teams seems to be when Dickov pulls out of the middle. Maybe he should play right wing....

However, like I say - this is never gonna happen. Mickey will, no doubt continue to play 4-4-2, continue to play players out of position and continue to play the likes of gillespie and rogers.

And I will still be there next time singing 'Mickey Adams - Blue and White Army' for most of the match with blind faith and optimism despite struggling to agree with a number of the decisions being made.

I thought thwe booing was unnesesccery. He played poorly but he worked quite hard. Booing him will only reduce his confidence. I thought it was stpuid of our fans and It was quite a large number aswell.
