This is what I like to do. I like to read what people who have been to the games think and I only tend to post opinions on matches and tactics when I have actually been to one. That way I won't say something that in reality I'm not qualified to comment on.

Apologies for abbreviating your post Redditch, but it was easier for me to show which bit I was talking about.

That's fine.

I think you can comment on broad issues of club policy "from afar" but the only way to get a sense of the contribution of individual players is to watch them play on a regular basis - not snippets on SSN or the Football League Show. You miss things even watching live televised games.

I agree with all of that.

That's far too black and white. There's a balance. Plenty of people go to most or all of the games and still don't know a fecking thing about football. You've got to factor in that a lot of people are basically stupid!

I'm entirely confident that I have a better idea about the current Leicester side and our tactics than many of the people who do attend the games, and yes, that comes from me watching live games on TV and snippets here and there. Simply attending games doesn't mean that you have a clue what's going on, and likewise, not being able to attend games doesn't mean you know nothing. You get a better idea from watching live games, sure, but if you know bugger all in the first place, it won't help you one bit.

I wasn't talking about other people though Dessie, just about me. I'm fully aware there are a load of ****wits who watch City every week, so I don't listen to them. I'm also fully confident in my football knowledge, from a playing, supporting and administrative standpoint. It's just how I choose to do things though, not a comment on how other people wish to do things.

You forgot to mention the category that I'm in, those who never attend games but still know nothing.

Or my category - I don't even like football. I was trapped inside this forum in a Tron-like accident. I would have tried to escape but the girls here are dirty.

Wait, what? This is a football forum? I've been using it as a dating website, had some right good shags out of it

Yes but to be fair to you, few if any of your posts have ever beem about football.

I'm sure you are right - I was drawing on my own experience and perhaps extending this too far. I acknowledge that I'm far less 'involved' in the world of LCFC than I was for many years and indeed have far less interest in football generally. I rejoice in being old fashioned and traditionalist in saying that the professional game has been largely ruined by money grabbing players, agents and the ability of 'big' clubs to capture trophies on a mountain of debt, exploitive ticket sales structuresd etc etc.

Mind you I still believe that it's not possible to totally appreciate individual player performance through the camera/ TV screen - mind you Sky have done technically outstanding job in raising standards.
