We did what was required, I think our superior quality was obvious, and our players knew they could relax.

Man Utd will be very difficult, they are my tip for the title now. Matic and Lukaku were the perfect signings for them and they look the best balanced team in the league.

You would have to be incredibly shit to get into the bottom 3 this season.

The gap between the top and bottom has become bigger over the last 6 months than it's ever been.

Some great teams and some horrifically bad sides.

We will be in the lower middle imo.

To think, if we could've held out for 10 more minutes last week, Arsenal would be in it

Matty James scouting report: Leicester midfielder proves he is ready to step into Chelsea target Danny Drinkwater's boots

Craig Shakespeare has admitted “one or two” of his players could yet leave before the end of the window.

But if Chelsea do match the £40m asking price for Danny Drinkwater – or get close enough – they have a ready-made replacement in Matty James.

The former Manchester United trainee missed the whole of the title-winning campaign through a knee injury and was shipped out on loan to Barnsley last season.

Now 26, he made his first Premier League appearance since May 2015 at the Emirates and formed a solid central midfield pairing with Wilfred Ndidi against Brighton.

They are not Dkinkwater and N'Golo Kante but the duo provide a solid platform for the wingers to get forward and Shinji Okazaki pushes up to support Jamie Vardy.

James is always available to receive the ball and play it simple – he just makes Shakespeare's team tick.

And with Brighton playing with only one striker, he was able to cut off the supply line to Glenn Murray and then Tomer Hemed – and slot into a defensive role for setpieces to allow the centre-backs to get forward.

James can be a really important player for the Foxes this season.

This shows what a rag the Mirror is. James should not be anywhere near the first team, let alone an important player. If he is an important player for us this season we are ****ed. His performances should not be judged against how long he has been out injured. They should be judged on is he good enough to play on the Premier League; and the answer is no.

At least James showed for the ball. I'm not saying he's the answer and he's clearly not got the legs he once had, but he provides an option to those at the back, when they have the ball.

Last season, when we had King and/or Amartey (before Ndidi had signed), the back four had no options to play through the middle, as neither of them seemed to know how to show themselves.

The problem is that when the opposition are asmpoor as that, it's impossible to judge our performance so I don't really get some of the strong negativity here.

It can be likened to reading literature; a simple text written badly is more difficult to read to completion than a complex text written beautifully. Brighton were 'The Da Vinci Code' in this analogy.

A good performance against mediocre opposition.

I am really baffled by any link between a football club like Brighton and The Da Vinci Code. You may have found The Da Vinci Code difficult but so many people completed it and enjoyed it they went out and bought Angels and Demons.

The book has had great and positive influence. but that perhaps needs a different thread. I would also point out that it is a book in which the historian gets the pretty girl - all pretty girls should read it.

I thought James looked decent enough yesterday personally. Certainly no worse than Drinkwater.

After last night we're now above Same Old Arsenal. Suck it Wenger.

Now you've gone and destroyed The Da Vinci Code for me as well :021:

Maguire is simply superb, a class above and I look forward to seeing him and Huth as the first choice pairing. He's commanding, confident with the ball, reads the game well and a threat from set pieces. Shakey needs to have the guts to drop Wes.

Okazaki seems to have found some form, stepped his game up in the first two games, I've been very impressed. Although he still hasn't found some studs.

We barely got out of second gear and didn't need to either. The first goal being so early helped and the last 15 were that awful I can't even remember a thing that happened. Brighton need to find a goal threat and fast or else they will be back down very quickly.

Two good performances, 3 points from two games and definitely optimistic for the season ahead with players such as Iborra, Iheanacho and Drinkwater still to come back as well. I would like a few more through the door, but plenty to be positive about.

You took the analogy too literally but 'The Da Vinci Code' had a positive influence? Really? On who or what? Have you ever read a 'proper' book from cover to cover? It was once decribed by Stephen Fry as "Loose stool water". He was being kind.

To be expected sadly. Brainless ****s who go out on a Saturday to a football ground to get pissed, shout abuse and fight. The fact that a match may be going on is purely incidental.
If my memory is right, our friggin' useless drummer was banging along to said chants. Pillock.

It's possible he wouldn't hear the actual words used as he was banging his drum
