It was definitely an odd one. Normally when I want a manager to be sacked it’s usually with ill feeling.

I was an advocate for him to get sacked but have a statue built of him outside the stadium the following day.
I've seen many managers come and go over the many years I've supported my beloved Leicester City.
When Claudio was pushed aside, it was the only time I felt a lump in my throat.
For the sake of the club it was the right thing to do, however it didn't feel right at the time, it still peeves me off now.
Always remembered very fondly in the HTB household.

Same here

Not sure if morals are, or indeed should be, a factor.

However, I would argue that it would have been completely immoral for the owners to have not acted when they did.

Their role is as custodians of the club and they should act in its best interest.

How can you argue that deliberately allowing potentially disastrous failure is the moral thing to do?
Because HE did something that nobody else in the history of our club or indeed the game has.

Although financially I’m sure it was correct but aside from this I wouldn’t be surprised that within the game this adversely affected our chances of getting a top(ish) manager and indeed some top draw players.

We became ‘infected’ and almost ‘dirty’.

I’m sure most disagree with my sentiments but that doesn’t bother me one bit.

I am with you on this one C Fox.

Yes Claudio had to go. Something was 'broken'. We may never know exactly what. I am sure that chicken nuggets was just one small symptom of a loss of trust/confidence or whatever. Like Coyote the players were flying until they stopped believing and looked down!

What was very wrong, and it still sticks in my throat, was the nature of the dismissal. From the outside it looked horrific, and I am also quite sure that some managers and top players at the time said to themselves, " If that is how they treat a manager who has achieved a footballing miracle and the greatest achievement the club will ever see, they are not a nice club to work for."

Maguire, Amartey, Vardy, James were all superb. Albrighton and Ndidi were outstanding. A nice win.
One might query on if Simpson will get back into the team straight away especially with the current run. The same goes for Morgan as Dragovic has been fairly decent recently....If James is soo good then Silva must be worries

If it ain't broke don't fix it, and we've been looking pretty good of late.

Personally I think a show of faith from Puel will do Amartey the world of good. He's coming on well and looking increasingly more confident, especially going forward. I think he suits Puel's preferred style of play (more so than Simpson does anyway). Puel seems to like the central defenders wider, allowing the central midfielder to drop in and pushing the fullbacks further forward.

Still worried about the lack of threat we seem to be going up. The last few games we should have had at least 3/4 goals

It would be nice if Vardy could finish his one on one situations.

I reckon Amartey is our first choice RB now.
Feel like a right bastard saying it but the injuries to Simpson and Morgan have improved the team.

Ferguson probably could have had another 5 good years if he had chosen to stay...

Absolutely not. Remember how out of the blue the retirement announcement was? In the middle of a season? (actually past the middle) That's no time to make such a decision unless you know your game is up. If you remember that season was probably the worst in the history of the Prem. Manure were completely unimpressive to virtually everybody yet won the league easily as nobody else was fit for a challenge. This was underlined by being dumped out of Europe embarrassingly early. Old Purple Nose knew that squad was done & the only way was down after the sale of the club to the Glazers (which was his fault) He knew it'd take 5 years minimum to make them competitive again with the riches available to Chelski & Man City & at his age knew he didn't have that kind of time. Better to retire as the trophy winning hero & sit in the stand they named after you than end up like Wenger with half your own fans calling you yesterday's man & wanting you out. A smart move on his part...with Moyes the perfect fall guy.

I think you've got your retirements mixed up. He only confirmed his retirement on the 8th May, when they were already champions and 11 days before their final game of the season. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...erguson-will-retire-at-end-of-the-season.html

I assume you're half talking about the time he almost retired, but then decided not to.

Yep you're right. I couldn't be arsed to check & remembered it being earlier than that. But my point still stands. He got out while the going was good. I stand by the rest of the post & my conclusions. It's not even a criticism really. If I'd been in his position I'd have probably done the same thing. It was a situation entirely of his own making though with regard to the takeover of the club a few years earlier. He basically died of slow poisoning while the Coolmore Mafia toasted his demise.
