Albrighton perhaps.

Vardy had a great game but I agree with HTB's point about being offside. Strikers are lazy at getting back onside. If a defender was as lazy then they'd be crucified.

It depends whether you want your forward to chase down keepers and defenders or not.

If you do, you have to accept that sometimes they will be offside when the ball comes back from the clearance (which is what I assume he's being criticised for).

He can easily avoid being offside by standing around the centre circle with his hands down his shorts instead. Much like he was doing prior to the Liverpool game.

Criticising him now is utterly bewildering when he's finally started to put a shift in.

He had a much better game today. He scared the turd out of Dull and had at least 2 players on him all game.

He tracked back well and his 1-2's open up teams like Gillian Tailforth and a half mast trouser fly.
Adrian Durham's quote on talk spurs summed it up nicely
" mahrez sold more dummies than mother care there"

The biggest change in Fuchs is that he suddenly looks decisive. Vardy is also far more dynamic as is Drinkwater. That being said I didn't think we were that good yesterday (though I only saw the second half).

I remember Thierry Henry saying that he would save himself for sprints by not rushing back to an onside position or closing down players that posed no threat to the midfield.

I agree it's madness to be picking fault with that side of his game after his last two performances.

To pick fault with my current bête noire Mahrez (for no other reason than I'm bored and being mischievous), on one occasion he took possession just outside our penalty area, ignored a simple pass and made a few yards upfield and was dispossessed - and continued running upfield. He did not stop and about face to take up a defensive position. It was all very kickabout casual.

Actually, mischievousness aside, the moral is that it's easy to pick fault if you look for it. And, my bad, for some reason I look for fault with Mahrez - I honestly don't know why.

I ought make it clear that I thought Mahrez had his best game for us for some time. Given a freer role, drifting wing to wing behind Vardy, he's a danger - and he completely bamboozled the Hull defenders for his goal.

We were better in the first. Going a goal down was completely against the run of play.

It was. And, as I said in the match thread, it was a silly goal. I also didn't worry at that point, we were so otherwise in control that I felt we'd get a goal back. The good thing is that it seemed the team felt so too. Heads did not drop, they took in their stride and continued on playing as they had been. It would have not flattered us to have been 2 or 3 up at half time. Hull surprised me with both the space and possession they gave us and their lack of urgency and desire.

Spot on. They set up very poorly I thought.

There were periods in the game when I thought Hull looked terrified of us. After Fuchs scored we had a period of play passing the ball around their half where they couldn't get a kick in.

With 9 days off until the Sevilla tie I would expect us to come out absolutely in fire.

Our biggest game since Man City away last season.

I think Mahrez will always be a luxury player. You just hope you do not have to wait 95 minutes before he produces the magic and scores one or two goals.

He was whoscored.com's man of the match, which I think is based on statistics.
