Good, keep Vardy away from attention. Let the absolute stink of england wash all over him.

But like in walking dead when they cover themselves in zombie guts so not to be recognized.

    Fucking England. Load of shit.

Or ... Costa Rica showed Vardy respect. Did a Mahrez and put 3 defenders on him to leave space for Rashford et al to play around in.

Vardy rarely left his position in the middle, it's as though he was told to stay there and not drift out wide like he does for Leicester.

He was absolutely terrific and motm for me. I thought Loftus-Cheek was pretty decent as well. Henderson was.... Well.... Henderson.

I think Henderson is a better fit than Dier.

I agree. Not really sure what type of player Dier is supposed to be.

He's a Spurs one, so makes the team whenever possible

So does Southgate pick the second highest English PL scorer of last couple of seasons with a good record against the top PL teams and good international teams - or does he pick every other striker instead based on 60 lacklustre minutes with no service into the centre?

You will soon see the answer to this.

Just like Rashford having one good game means he now starts.

Vardy did himself no favours last night though.

I think we need to remember that Costa Rica were terrible. They were Championship level at best.

The opposition was irrelevant up to a point.
It's how the players were playing as a unit that counted.
These last 2 friendlies have given me a reason to be a bit more optimistic of our chances of actually putting up a fight rather than wave the white flag.
(Iceland and Costa Rica games in last 2 tournaments)

    We'll soon see ;)

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I agree. It’s just a pity they are both garbage (comparatively speaking of course).

There is a two page discussion in the Times today about the England line up for the tournament. Vardy’s name is not mentioned once not even in terms of options off the bench. Unlike Rashford of course. No matter what Lako says about Vardy’s form if another english striker playing in a top six team had scored 20 PL goals there would be a huge debate about what role he should play.

As has been said though, all the better for not getting other teams chasing him for a transfer if he doesn’t feature.

On the other hand a lot of support for Maguire being one of the 3 CBs

England don't play Vardy football. Simple as that.

Under Terry Venables, Bobby Robson or Glen Hoddddle he may have had a place in the team. Not now though.

Phil McNumpty of the BBC never mentions him. In the build up to the squad being announced he kept banging on about there being no other striker available if Kane got injured. Then there was the friendly where Lingard set up Vardy and scored himself and suddenly he was the one reliable alternative. I actually rate Lingard but if he were playing for Leicester and Vardy for United the opinion would do a complete u-turn.

Watching briefly before I go out, and Benny not off the bench yet.
It's on the same channel as the Toulon Final was on earlier FreeSports on Sky 422.
Costa on for Spain so we might see Benny vs Costa :D
