Vardy is a club talisman and legend who just received an enormous contract and is, in theory, in the prime of his career.

He’s not playing well but he isn’t being man managed. His frustration recently is obvious.

Basically Puel has managed to marginalize the man many people consider the best we ever had. And. Vardy isn’t past it. He’s 31. We have him for four more years...a Leicester manager needs to get a tune out of him, whether they like it or not.

Pair this with the King treatment too.

This bloke is going from befuddling to an actual disaster.

I know I’ve an ax to grind but surely people see this for what it is. The final scrambling of a desperate man.

And before people say I’m listening to the papers. There’s plenty of smoke here. It’s gone wrong between Vardy and Puel.

Vardy is far from finished and I don't believe he is on the decline, clearly there is a massive issue between him and Claude, for Claude to win this battle we need to be winning games of football Andy challenging the top 6. At the moment we seem a long way from that, in truth with Claude in charge we will be top 10 at very best, therefore marginalising your best striker who also happens to be an absolute legend only increases the pressure on an already under fire manager.

I honestly believe win, lose or draw today will be Puel's last match in charge and this is his final desperate act.

Piper is such an idiot. There is absolutely no way that can be true.

Not even the most unprofessional of unprofessional players would do something like that.

If it was true, I’d never want to see Vardy in a Leicester shirt again. But thankfully it isn’t.

On the Vardy issue itself.

I don't think he's started the season great. But this is understandable given his frustrating summer, and lack of any notable preseason. After his ban, and due to his retirement from England, I hoped that he would have been able to use his month 'off' to get fully fit and on song again. He's not quite there though.

Another factor that I think may be going on is the fact that he signed that 4 year deal with us in August. At his age, he must privately realise that this is it for his career now. He'll be 35 when that expires and very few strikers can play at that age or beyond. With no future or contract to fight for, no England place to go for, is he struggling to get his head right?

Having said all that, I don't think he's far away from being at his best. The football we're playing must be incredibly frustrating for him. He points to where he wants the ball played so often and instead it goes sideways or backwards. The team used to be geared towards providing him with chances, now it's geared towards tapping the ball around as much as is humanly possible and isolating him. For most of the games, he might as well be sitting in the stands. So he comes deep to get involved and that's just a bad idea with Vardy for obvious reasons. If you swapped out Vardy for Aguero or Salah or Kane, they'd fare little better.

Vardy is without any question at all, the best striker we've got, we've had in decades, and are ever likely to get in the next few decades. He's easily the best player in the league not with a top six team. To completely fail to appreciate the value he has for us is insane. Even if there are factors making him less than 100%, he's still miles clear as our best attacking option.

If he's dropped today, then Puel is even more of an idiot than I thought before. If West Ham go on to beat us today, and Vardy is sitting on the bench, I truly hope our fans have the guts to turn on Puel loudly and angrily. I certainly will be.

If Vardy just left the pitch without being ill on Monday then he very much deserves to be dropped and also fined as it would be massively unprofessional to do so.

Can't imagine that was the case though but will be interesting to see the starting line up later as he had a shit game either way.

Not to absolve Vardy IF he left the pitch, because that would be extremely dodgy...but isn’t keeping you most talented player productive and happy an important job for a manager?

If, and its a big if, Vardy has thrown his toys out of the pram and simply walked off the pich during a match then he never play for us again without a grovelling apology to everyone involved with the club.

I am sure he realises that such actions actions would invite a huge backlash from the owners.

Did not see the match. Before he ran off the pitch did Vardy give any sort of signal that he was ill. Did he talk to anyone as he came off?

I only saw it on TV. He didn't look ill; he just trotted off. It was said there were words between him and Puel as he went but what those words were and the manner of their delivery seems to be a mystery.

I was at the game, he didn’t look ill during the game but then it may have come on suddenly.
He went over to the bench and spoke to them before returning to the game, but didn’t get far before an about turn and off down the tunnel.

The thing that struck me was if he was ill why the backstaff/medics didn’t go with him I only saw one person follow and I think that was Mike Stowell
