Personally, I feel very lucky to have lived through a time where Foxes could strut with players like Mahrez.

He can go - he did everything here. No less than £40m though. And I for one, will always hold Mr Mahrez close to the heart. What a player. Possibly one of the best in the world two seasons' ago. A Leicester City legend.

I agree but it doesn't make up for the lack of effort last season. He is a fantastic player which is why last season hurts. One of our best outfield players of all time for the one season, one of the best in the world for that season. He should be getting £50m at least in the market we're seeing at the moment but I'd take £40m to a team outside the prem, more for a prem team who have the same ridiculous money we have.

And if he moves to a top team he will be fantastic in my opinion, which is why we should be seeking a proper sum for him.

Agreed.

Yep.

Mahrez is a flair player. His attitude and effort was the same last season as in his first eighteen months at the club. People just decided that he wasn't trying. Of course he was trying.

Last season, his confidence took a hit and his performance levels dropped just like most of his teammates.

He's an easy target because of his style and because it's clear that he thinks he should be at a bigger club. I don't have an issue with either of those things. I accept his style and his ambition.

However, he's not wanted by the sort of mega club that he could improve at. So I think he's better off here for another year determined to impress rather than moving on to a second rate 'big' club like Arsenal or Roma or Monaco.

I also think that we downplay the fact that he could have agitated for a move last season and got a mega club but he opted to stay. Unlike Kante, he showed us loyalty and respect.

It's a pity many of our fans can't do similar.

On the other hand, I think the way his agent is behaving and advising him is terrible.

I agree he is an amazing talent and the best player I have seen at our club I really feel the club need to send out a strong message here I think the way Pullis dealt with it was the correct way.
I personally do not think Mahrez has a bad attitude and if he is here at the start of the season we will see a quality player giving his all.
The fact he was double banked last season was difficult

All the talk of how awful Mahrez was last year, but he still made it into double figures for goals from midfield and was our 2nd top scorer.

Way too much blame is put on Mahrez for last season. It's frankly ridiculous.

Yes he wasn't as good as the year before, but no one (with the exception of Kasper) was.

He scored 6 in the league and 3 of those were from the penalty spot (he also missed 2 penalties). On top of that he had 3 assists in the league. For a player whose defensive prowess isn't his strong point those are poor figures.

Slimani scored more (7) and had more assists (4) in far fewer minutes, albrighton scored 2 and had 6 assists in less minutes.

Things start moving...

"Roma have overtaken Arsenal in the race to sign Leicester City's Riyad Mahrez.

Last season's Serie A runners-up are keen on the wantaway winger and are prepared to bid for the Algerian, possibly for a second time, with reports in Italy suggesting an opening offer of £20million was rejected by City over the weekend.

The Mercury understands Roma are prepared to go higher, with the Italian outfit believing a deal can be achieved with an offer between £30m and £35m, plus add-ons."

It would be a coup for Roma.

No he won't - and no he hasn't.

If Clubs are assuming 2015/16 was a one off, they wouldn't be interested.

40m or nothing for me. He's got more potential than sigurdsson.

**** me some short memories on here.

he wants to leave, surely that's enough to stop pining for what was? We'll probably never win the league again, he'll probably never try again. It really is time to say thank you and goodbye to the lad. Should have happened last year IMO but for obvious reasons CR and the owners would not want that.

Personally, I'd like him to go.
He was fantastic during our Premier league winning season ( still sounds good when I type that)
However, his performances last season, then saying he wants to go, has tarnished it some.
I'd rather remember him for his part in our historic season, and not what this whole situation is in danger of turning into.

However, his performances last season ... was crap, like practically all the team except Schmeichel.

So do we look to offload 9 other players as well because they were also crap last year, or do we hope that Mahrez can unplug his agent, wake up and smell the coffee, and perform like the consummate professional he can be, putting in the type of performances he is capable of?

The rest upped their performance Mahrez never did.

The way some of you talk you'd think we were in capeable of winning without him

The other 9 haven't asked to leave because they don't want to play for the team

Bitch slapping the bloke a bit disrespectful perhaps?

I think he could do with a slap. He should then forward that slap to whoever has given him advice this season. He could've had the world at his feet yet he's looking priced out of a move to Arsenal, wants to go to Barca (Rolf) and now looks likely to play in a league which is dodgy as ****. The only benefit in going there is he will know which games they're meant to win before the season starts. Silly boy.

I did not see the quote where he said 'I do not want to play for Leicester', only something about being ambitious and wanting to move on.

So let us give him the benefit of the doubt and say he wants to play for Leicester until a bigger/better/more ambitious/whatever, type of club comes along and puts a decent wedge down on the table as an offer.

You really are desperate!

He has handed in a transfer request because he doesn't want to be here

I may be being dumb here, but do we know for sure that Mahrez has officially handed in a transfer request?

He's said he wants to play at a higher level publicly and feels it's the right time to move, but that's not the same as an official transfer request.

I've not seen anything from the club confirming his transfer request and whether that's been accepted/rejected so just wondered.

Not that it makes a huge amount of difference probably - agents use the media to get the player a move without handing in a transfer request so he keeps certain bonuses - but just wondered
