Lots of tabloid and Internet rubbish at the moment. I wonder how much comes from Mahrez agent and how much is tabloid BS. I would imagine (hope) that whenever the price tag of 30-35 million is mentioned that is his agent desperately trying to bring his price down.

The market has gone insane. We should be demanding a minimum of 45 million.

Agreed, he is a title winner, CL player and Balloon D'Or nominee plus highly rated in Africa.

Why would anything other than £45m plus be acceptable. His price isn't going to do anything other than rise in these market conditions.

Spurs can not afford his wages and Wenger will no pay the money reqd
I think, in the end, if the Lemar deal dies Arsenal will pay £40m and that may be enough to to see us agree. It would be ****ing horrific, but I can see it's a no brainer for Wenger.

£30million + add-ons.

£2million for a goal + £1million for an assist!

Last season that would have been £12million + £3million.

I'm quite sure Spurs can afford his wages.

They may refuse to pay them but that's a different matter.

Seems to me that Mahrez didn't want to play for us last season and wasn't motivated to put in a shift in the PL. Looks like he may now have accepted that he won't get his move to a bigger club without putting in some performances.

Either way he has no future with Leicester. Unfortunately his performances last season have diminished his value; cast doubt in clubs minds about his attitude and this has encouraged cheeky bids.

Best case scenario is that he goes now for hopefully about £40m. Alternatively, he restores his reputation with us in the short term and goes in January.

Keeping unhappy players never works - corrosive for the whole playing staff.

He may be happy playing for us, he just wants to move to the next stage in his career.

Quite possibly, if we had a achieved a top 4 finish again last season, he may have wanted to stay with us.

Catch 22 isn't it.

Perhaps he was sure that we aren't a regular top 4 finish club and it was best for him to exit in summer '16.

And/ or perhaps he feels that the way we are set up on the pitch isn't expansive enough for him to showcase his skills.

Who knows?

He'd be correct on both counts

If I were him I'd wait for a club where he can realistically win things. You can't see that being the case at Roma... Clearly would love the Barca move but hopefully he sees that he's someway off Coutinho's level and that's the level of ability and consistency he has to be at if he wants to end up at one of the real big boys.

Do you really think so (re Coutinho)? He's a very good player but no better than Mahrez in my opinion. I'd be interested to see how their stats compare.

In the 15/16 season in isolation I'd agree with you.

If (and it's a big if) Neymar gets this move to PSG, maybe Mahrez feels like he could still the move he wants to Barcelona?

I doubt he would, but it might be in his head
