On the Bench ... With Sunderland's Rising Star Martyn Waghorn

Martyn Waghorn has been likened to Wayne Rooney by more than one respected football observer.
No less a figure than Roy Keane has predicted that the Sunderland teenager will enjoy a "long and successful career".
So, no pressure there, then, Martyn.
Even at the age of 19, Waghorn's has enjoyed a varied career, taking his first footballing steps at the Manchester United school of excellence before, at the grand old age of eight, returning to his native North-East to join the Black Cats.
Since then, Waghorn has rarely looked back.
In common with many of his similarly talented contemporaries, a loan move, followed, in this instance to Charlton Athletic. However, after an impressive start, injury deprived the player of valuable experience and the London club of a growing talent who could have helped keep them in the Championship last term.
Back, fully fit and ready to impress this season, the offers are coming in for a player with deceptive pace and touch for one so robustly built and with finishing skills which can only continue to improve.
Colin Todd, manager of Sunderland's League Two neighbours Darlington, says: "I'd love to take Martyn on loan, but I've been told there are a lot of Championship clubs interested in him."
Steve Bruce will have a good look at what Waghorn has to offer before deciding between another loan stint, or continuing his footballing education by keeping him at the Stadium of Light to compete for the first team place that looks increasingly within his grasp.
The Sunderland manger, who gave Waghorn chance to impress in the pre-seasonAmsterdam Tournament, said: "Since I came into the job, my phone's been red hot with managers asking about my young players, and that's testament to the great job being done at our academy.
"The young lads have really impressed me and they'll get their chance to show me what they can do in pre-season." Waghorn, you suspect, won't need many opportunities to make a favourable impression.
