Directions & Parking:

Approx: 128 miles (Via the route below) - 2½ hours.

The best route is probably via the M1 and the M25 to the M11. At the end of the M11, follow the signs for A12 and the Blackwall Tunnel. Once through the Blackwall Tunnel, follow the A102(M) to its end and then take the slip-road for the A2 (Central London).

When you reach New Cross, follow signs for Surrey Quays into Kender Street, turn left into Old Kent Road then right at the turning signposted "car pound" into Ilderton Road. Zampa Road is the 7th turning on the right.

There are no facilities for supporters to park at the ground.

Trains:

The cheap advance tickets have now gone. You are looking in excess of £21 each way at the moment.

It is possible to group save between Leicester & London. 3 or 4 can travel for the price of 2.

You will need to buy a series of split tickets. All Off Peak Day Returns. 1) Leicester to Market Harborough 2) Market Harborough to Bedford 3) Bedford to London St Pancras. - You do not need to get off at these stations, there are trains from Leicester that will stop at each of the above on the way/way back.

3 can travel for £26.80 each
4 can travel for £20.10 each

There are no time restrictions on these trains, however you will need to travel together, and the train must call at the stations above.

National Express have some reasonably prices fares available. Leicester to London Victoria is currently available for £17 return. (9.10am or 10.20am from Leicester / 6.30pm from London Victoria)

For travel across London, see post #6. Our expert train anorak has provided a comprehensive guide.

Pubs:

Directly around the ground is not advised. There are plenty of pubs around London Bridge.

Be warned my sources say there's been plenty of trouble in the past two season around this way.

I am being a mongie for the day and going on the coach. :icon_roll

I've been to a few of the pubs around Borough market before a Charlton game so was thinking of heading there. I want to watch Man U Liverpool before. I won't be wearing my colours, any suggestions of stay away pubs?

A few of us London Brancher's are going for a beer near Waterloo ( the pub doesn't have TV sports by the way ). If anyone wants details PM me.

Cross-London travel

This is complicated by the fact that the Thameslink route under London is due to be closed on the day. For the last two weekends the engineering works have been altered at short notice and trains have worked through. I will update on this at the end of next week.

At the moment, your route should be as follows:

From King's Cross St Pancras, take the Northern line to London Bridge.

At London Bridge you need to come to the surface and go to the main-line station (high-numbered platforms, 8+). Take the Beckenham Junction train (03 and 33 minutes past the hour) or the West Croydon train (18 and 48 minutes past the hour) and alight at South Bermondsey - it's only a 4-minute journey, so don't get too comfortable. South Bermondsey station is adjacent to the New Den.

The cheapest fare for the return journey from St Pancras to South Bermondsey is £3.50 (off-peak day return), but you must buy this ticket from the National Rail ticket office before going to the Underground station - it is valid on the tube because the Thameslink route is closed. If you try to book your ticket at the tube booking office, you will pay more.

If you intend to make other journeys as well as the simple return journey between St Pancras and South Bermondsey, your best ticket will probably be a Zone 1-2 Off-Peak TravelCard which costs £5.60 (up to 4 accompanied children are £1 each. unaccompanied children £2 each). You can buy this from National Rail and Underground ticket offices and from machines at Underground stations.

Oyster is not valid for travel between London Bridge and South Bermondsey.

King's Cross St Pancras Underground station has two ticket offices (soon to be three!). Leaving the East Midlands platforms at St Pancras, the first one you come to is the one on the Circle/Metropolitan lines (rectangular booking hall). If you continue past that, following the signs for the Northern/Victoria/Piccadilly lines, you will come to another ticket office (circular booking hall). This second ticket office seems invariably to have a shorter queue and, being used by fewer foreign visitors (it's further from the Eurostar exit), the queue moves more quickly.

What time is Fox Travel likely to get back to Leicester. Would 8.30pm seem about right. I want to get back in time to watch Charlie Chuck in the DONKEY, though I doubt I'll make it.

Why will we never play Millwall away again, after getting promoted twice, then never playing Millwall in the Premiership :icon_conf

Hi Jessel

Can I suggest that you put your thoughts to us before you go to the pub and not after you have spent about 4 hours getting home because you can't remember where you live?

What an asbolute fecking shambles. 1 whole hour we were kept penned in that bit, and then no fecking trains to take anyone back. No specials or anything. Missed our train, had to go via Nuneaton and had it not been for a very nice understanding polish bird it would have cost me extra to get home.
