Leicester City have bolstered their defensive options with the signing of Mali international centre back Molla Wagué on loan until the end of the season.

Subject to receiving international clearance and his registration being approved by the Premier League and the Football Association, Molla becomes the Foxes’ second addition of 2017 after the capture of Wilfred Ndidi earlier this month.

He joins on loan from Italian club Udinese with the consent of his Spanish parent club, Granada CF.

Speaking exclusively to LCFC.com, Wagué said:“I’m delighted to be at Leicester City and I can’t wait to get started. It’s a wonderful Club and I’m excited to have the chance to show what I can do in the Premier League with the champions. .

“I’ve always wanted to play in England so I’m looking forward to the challenge and to getting to know my new team-mates over the coming weeks. I’ll work hard to get my chance and when it comes I hope to show that I will give everything to help the team.”

French-born Wagué has been on loan at Udinese since 2014, having made 37 appearances for the Serie A outfit, but will now see out the 2016/17 campaign at Leicester City, with the Club having an option to make the deal permanent from Granada at the end of the season.
A tall and athletic centre half who is extremely quick and mobile, Wagué has built a reputation as a good reader of the game and is adept at using his physical attributes to provide effective cover in behind. At Udinese, he operated in both 3-5-2 and 4-3-3 systems, either on the right side of a three or as the right-sided centre back in a back four.

The versatile defender, who can also play as a right-back, now arrives at King Power Stadium fresh from representing Mali at the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon. Wagué played in all three of his nation’s Group D fixtures, including a clash with Ghana which saw him come up against City midfielder Daniel Amartey.
A former French youth international, he made his senior debut at Caen in November 2011 and spent three years with the team, where he played alongside former Fox N’Golo Kanté and against Riyad Mahrez and Papy Mendy. The defender was linked with a move to the Foxes at the end of his contract but eventually signed for Spanish side Granada in 2014, before spending the past three seasons on loan at Udinese.

Thank feck for that - a new defender. Great tactics there saving it 'til after the game to take the shine off another fantastic performance...

I'm so excited I've literally just shit myself

Last season the Premier League, and now this

Couldn't get better

**** me, is this a ****ing joke? All hail the saviour. Our transfer business is laughable. Who's in charge of this shambles?

Awful timing to announce a deal that looks like it was done hours ago. People now writing him off already. M
Let's hope he's good! Sounds like the right attributes for what we need - let's just hope he's good enough to take a first team spot!

Beeeeeeef

Feel sorry for the lad. No matter how bad our defence seems to be none of them get changed. I fear he has come to warm the bench.

A level headed, positive thread about a new player that none of you know anything about then. Yes, we've just witnessed yet another shower of shit but give this guy just a fraction of a chance before you all decide he's a wasted signature. **** me, some of you are emotional wrecks!

Who's called him the saviour? Seriously, who the **** did you want us to sign? Which defenders out there did you want? ****s sake.
It really is laughable sometimes isn't it? Perhaps people were expecting we'd be able to spunk hundreds of millions on all those wonderful Premier League quality defenders that are littering benches throughout Europe. The time for buying the players we needed was during the summer window. We made a hash of recruitment then but there is next to nothing we could have done to rectify this during January. The only disappointment for me was that we missed a couple of tricks in Robbie Brady and Robert Snodgrass who could have both done a decent job for us.

Jon Rudkin. A good example of the Peter Principle.

Jeff, why when I like a post now do I have to be redirected to another page to confirm I want to like it? Annoying with slow connection.

Also, agree on Rudkin. Think he could well be on his way out/reassigned before the summer window. Let's ducking hope so anyway. Miserable performance in 3 successive transfer windows - luckily last season's didn't knock us off course though!
