Why aye, why aye man.
Mahrez to Barca?
One of our best players of all time but at 40m I can't see a yoyo team like us saying no.
A fantastic player and I would/will be sorry to see him go but, if a team like Barca' comes calling, I think it's only fair that we should let him decide. In the long term, it works to our advantage because, if players know that they can reach a level and step up, they are more likely to sign for us than if we cling on grimly.
They can bollocks if that's all they've got to offer.
If City payed 29 million for Slimani, Mahrez has got to be worth a lot more.
Sadly players are only worth what another team will pay. Teams would have to factor in the £20m + salary a 4 year contract would cost too.
It's bad enough seeing Kante playing for another PL side. Seeing Mahrez for another PL team would be horrible. I am fully expecting him to leave in the summer so good luck to him if he gets a move such as Barca
Part exchange for Messi?
He's a ten and wouldn't run around as much as Okazaki - we'd only bring him on for the last 20 minutes.
I don't like the plural in the 'club are expecting to lose their leading lights'
It's like keeping a pretty little dicky bird in a cage in the lounge.
It's ace, and he has lovely plumage, and I've taught him to chirrup "who's the wanker in the black", and everything. And stuff.
But we both know it's shit. But we both know he needs somewhere with space. Somewhere he can flutter about and be himself. Somewhere with natural predators and suitable winter climates.
Fly free little Riyadbird. Fly free and think of us fondly.
There was a time when our players were targeted by Barnsley and Rotherham. The fact that rumours link our players to Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid and the like, should be a sign of how times have changed. Yes it's sad that players move on, but at least they've been our players, even if only for a limited time.
God I love Riyad Mahrez.
Easily my favourite city player of all time (which, to be fair, I have a Jimmy Willis kit so....).
Does it like skiing?
I'm just glad it's not Vardy. I hate to think what animal Mawsley would have come up with for his post.
Southampton have shown that no players are irreplacable.
Goodbye Riyad, Kasper, Jamie ... leave the keys on the way out.
Southampton didn't win the league so it's slightly different I think.
Neither have they battled relegation - but they are in the European discussion each season.
