I feel bad for MON. There is an expectation there that is unrealistic. They don’t have a Shay Given, Damien Duff, or a Robbie Keane. Who do they have even remotely close to decent PL quality? No one, and isn’t like you can just buy someone in. Are there any ROI players we would covet for our first team? I can’t think of one.

They’ve not looked like a MON team, or any kind of a team, recently though. They’re also suffering from comparison to what Michael O’Neil has achieved with even less in the north of Ireland. That said, theres no national scheme to develop players, which would be the responsibility of the man who just sacked MON and Keane, and until there is they will always relay on English academy products with an Irish nan
