And what shit years they've been, too
Seems like about 10 for Lenny. He was fucking ace back then. What a great header.
10 years ago today, Andy King made his debut for LCFC. https://www.lcfc.com/news/487651/ten-years-since-kings-landing/featured
10 years later he starts for us again, in another uninspiring 0-0 draw. Who would back then have imagined that would have been against Bournemouth....in the PL!
It is probably a measure of how shit or uninspired our midfield is that Andy King is still a starter 10 years on in the PL.
I thought Matt Elliott would be another journey man that might be able help out in defence when needed.
I still shudder that as good as he was, he was a bit of a crock for his last couple of years but in 2005 was on £40,000 a week, which was astronomical back then!
I thought it was £30k, but either way it was a lot of money.
Matty was absolute quality. One of those who was arguably better than the players in his position that won the title.
Who would you say was better: Elliot is his prime, or Maguire now?
As a defender it's Matt Elliott all day long.
I'd say as a striker it's Matt Elliott too.
Outstanding. Rarely conceded from set-pieces, but always scored from them.
Late, but last week marked a quarter of a century since this goal. Remember this as though it was yesterday, went nuts on the terrace behind that goal. Lost on penalties though . . .
Great memories, thanks for that...was right in line with the shot as it arrowed towards the net
The Barnsley goal was a good un as well, iirc. Remember listening on the wireless, they said there's been a goal at Oakwell. Commentary started "it's a corner for Barnsley....." My heart sank thinking the worst.
Hard to believe but Clive Tyldesley was just as annoying 25 years ago as he is now.
