I not sure my Sunderland supporting father-in-law, who was at the game with me, would agree
It's a shame that management and team didn't stay together for a couple of more years. I always rated Collymore and O'Neill was probably the one manager who could have got the best out of him.
Can't be that long ago. I remember being in school a few days after and writing all sorts of shit on my GCSE geography teacher's blackboard as he was a mackem.
Been watching the highlights on YouTube. The text commentary is fucking fantastic
The second and last time we saw Collymore and Heskey together. If only we hadn't been a selling club then!
Or at least had transfer windows three years earlier.
Oh wait, Collymore was signed in February. Never mind then.
What about transfer windows 3 weeks earlier?
Arbitrary but yes.
The last game I saw with my old Dad -we were behind the goal to see Collmore's hattrick and the Oakley strike. Out of all the games we saw together over the years I'm glad we were there to witness this one and end on a real high!
But we sold Heskey for £10millon, at least twice what he was worth at the time.
Probably the best game I've ever been to.
More than Man Utd could do last night
I agree. The Everton game was the best occasion I’ve ever been to, but that was the greatest game.
A comeback, an incredible atmosphere, a battling performance to hold on and players that cost next to nothing providing the match winning moments. Just summed us up brilliantly. Like Everton the year before it was just a perfect day/evening.
It still makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck, watching those highlights. What a time we got to experience.
This time last year
