A lack of rest time in any physical career is going to shorten that career still further

But they will have rest, they are returning later than the other players.

Is that supposed to make them cyborgs?
I'm not sure what a cyborg is but it certainly means they get less of my sympathy than others.

It’s not about sympathy, it’s about preparation.

The post to which I first responded was about "going home" and "doing their own thing" and, later, about "holidays". Nothing there about preparation.

If you want to ask me about preparation, my response would be different.

Ok. Do you think players (and their performance levels) would benefit from “going home” and having a “holiday” prior to a 40 odd game season and post World Cup?

Yes. But then I would do something about the 40 odd game season and/or the World Cup.

Things are likely though to get worse, not better. Look at the timing of the next World Cup. As somebody once said, modern football is crap and this is modern football.

They are going to have a holiday.

They also have holidays during the season.

It also isn't prison

It’s tough, 1/2 a day training M-Th, lighter duties Friday, some 1st class travel on match days plus 90 odd minutes of football.

Tough as **** if you ask me!

It's about time these clubs were allowed squads. Perhaps involve some youngsters in games to give some of the starting eleven a rest. Might stop the greedy lower division sides stock piling all the young players too.

That would be good. Unfortunately in several competitions clubs get fined for deviating too far from what the organisers decide is their "first eleven".

Aye. Prefer Football Manager now. Me managing Lincoln City in the Prem seems more realistic than some of the nonsense going on.
