Secret 7" in association with Art Against Knives

Hi everyone

As a graphic designer, I enter a few design competitions from time to time. Secret 7" is a great competition where freelance designers like myself get the opportunity to design artwork for established artists. The artist and competition organisers pick between 30-50 winners and these are sold with the proceeds going to charity. The idea behind the artwork is to design a cover which reflects the artist and the track without using any text to give it away. This year I've designed a cover for Elton John's classic Bennie & the Jets. Voting is now open and I'm currently in the top 10 out of several hundred entries. I still need all the votes I can get though, so if any posters on here can spare a few seconds to cast a vote, I'll be eternally grateful. Constructive criticism of my work is also welcomed

I actually don't think there's anything wrong with that design at all. It's just a different style. Trust me there's a lot worse in there.

Agreed, Im a graphic designer myself, and after a brief look through I can confirm there is some really shite in there. I may have a go myself in the future.

Like your design by the way, clear, obvious and has the 1970's soul feel to it. Its good.

It's always good to get good feedback from other designers. I really tried to nail Elton in the 70's and wanted to create a pair of sunglasses that reflected the song and that he would have potentially worn.

I'm not one to bash other designer's work but some of the stuff out there is truly atrocious and then some people have created stuff that has nothing to do with the singer or track. The 1 ranked first has no link whatseover.
