Stream of consciousness thoughts - Did Craig give them the hairdryer at half time? Different team in second half. I was a bit right - after crap 1st half, Musa scored, all credit for his effort (but Ulloa didn't score, never looked like scoring, but managed a couple of semi-assists, Slim wasn't sent off and instead scored 2, calm, well taken chances). Gray fine individual effort. Plus a great through ball from Andy King – for Slim’s second goal. Their goal was a fluke, Kasper wouldn't have saved it either. Nice to see Maguire get a decent reception from the crowd – like AK did when he came on against us for Brighton – start of a new trend of appreciation?

Excellent - well done lads – looking forward to the next one.

Musa got better as the game went on. He actually had some decent ideas and touches mixed in with some odd, messy stuff.

Gray must have got a bollocking at HT as well he should and was much better in the second. Slimani was MoTM for me and looked like a real striker tonight.

The one thing I would take out of that is what an excellent player David Brooks is. I'd be looking to test Sheffield United's resolve by offering a wedge of cash for him - it'd be a very good signing.

Special mention for Knight who looked calm, assured and made a magnificent block.

Bit disappointed, really.

Watched the game and we looked fine, but lost the decider against the league leaders in the Melton Pool League, so can't really be happy with that.

What I learnt from this game I already knew:

Leo has never really looked like fitting in at Leicester.

King gets on with his game but you hardly notice he's there.

Gray is capable of greatness, just not sure he truely knows it yet- frustrating. Glad he eventually took his opportunity.

Slimarni can score with his feet - our most natural finisher for some time. Must not sell.

Musa has a confidence issue.

Opposition often score flukey goals it just happens.

Don't wake up early read the diatribe from the usual suspects on here, roll over fall back asleep and miss three wonderful goals.

Musa scoring at the end shows that playing as a forward, and not a Winger, is his best position. He showed tenacity and would not give up until he got a shot on goal.
That 4th goal was celebrated probably twice as much as any of the previous 3 behind the goal, particularly near the left corner flag.
He isn't a Winger, and in that early part of the game, as some have said, it looked like he'd hardly ever kicked a ball in his life.

Enjoyed the game and atmosphere in the away end.

Just knew the song ".... if Musa scores we're on the pitch" would bring results :003:

But Swede Fox you didn't have to take it so literally.:002:
Nice to meet you though Swede, and yes he is tall Blaarev.

Not notice that Boc had put the photo above in the match thread as I was a bit busy after the game and not seen it until just now, but as it was my photo he used I'm sure he wouldn't mind me showing it again.;)

I genuinely believe Musa can be an asset.

I genuinely believe Musa can be an asset.

I want to think so.

We pursued him for quite some time then spent a sizeable wedge to get him. The guy MUST have something. Due diligence and all that.

Also, the fact he is laughably inept on occasions suggests to me that he does have something (if that doesn't sound too much of a contradiction) That is to say, IF he were as all round poor as some of his touches might lead you to believe (and it wasn't just last night) then that would have been seen very very quickly by scouts etc. We never would have signed him. Perhaps he is struggling for confidence or something, I don't know, but I think something's amiss. Suffice it to say that I remember his goal in that Barcelona preseason kickabout and being excited about the prospects.

When he scored last night, I found the response of our players telling (particularly Slimani who almost got intimate!) They seemed to be genuinely pleased for Musa, as if recognising what he's going through and how he is trying.

I'm not sure that he'll come good with us though. I've a sneaking suspicion that the writing's on the wall and he's on his way - maybe to Hull and to reunite with his former boss, Leonid Slutsky. Maybe Slutsky knew how to get the best out of a perhaps fragile player. Perhaps that'd be the best move for Musa. It could be that the environment at Leicester doesn't work for him.

Against Barcelona he looked world class. Against Everton in the cup he looked excellent. At other times he has looked hopeless.

There are rumours that he has been going through a difficult time in his personal life. Perhaps he has lost confidence, perhaps his head has been 'elsewhere'.

I am far from convinced but there is the odd glimpse of a footballer in there.

One further thought, even if he has something to offer, I am not sure he fits into our system.

I think Musa, Gray and Slimani would do really well in a squad that had more than one match tactic and some squad rotation.

In other words, probably not at Leicester.

Yes, it is a good point. Slimani was purchased for his strengths, I won't say as a 'plan b' striker but certainly to offer us a different approach. Why we thought he could do that on his own, I have no idea. We haven't really been playing to get the best out of him. The sight of him lumbering up from midfield, looking decidedly uncomfortable with the ball at is feet, is almost as comical as Musa shanking a shot/pass/cross/whatever tf it's meant to be. It is perhaps the one are of the game where Ulloa is more capable - at the risk of damning Ulloa with praise.

I could understand why Slimani might want to move on. It must be frustrating for him in the current set up.
