I think Musa, Gray and Slimani would do really well in a squad that had more than one match tactic and some squad rotation.

In other words, probably not at Leicester.

Anyone can see that Slimani is a very capable player. However he plays in the same position as Vardy who is just better.

Whenever they've played together it looks wrong and mitigates both their strengths.

I agree but I think the problem is they both change a little to try and gel with the other. Last night Slimani played as though he was a lone striker, and completely ignored Ulloa (not difficult last night) and looked a much better player, playing like that he would work with Vardy I think.

I really don't see that a Vardy/Slimani partnership is ever going to work, much as BN suggsted. I can't see that it was ever the intention either. I'd go so far as to say that I think it weakens the team.

That they are totally different types of player is not a problem in itself, it's that the specifics of the differences make them incompatible, imho. You need a more flexible team shape than we have (and the players capable of doing it) It might have been something that Ranieri was aiming for but I think we've seen that door nailed shut, at least in the foreseeable. Further, we're shaped (for better or worse) to have Vardy up front - and have been for some time.

It pains me to say that I think Slimani will go. I don't think we're ready for him yet and I'm pretty sure he's not going to want to sit on the bench and wait.

When they have played together Vardy seems to drop into the number 10 role and Slimani stays on the last man. The other way round would surely play to each player's strengths more, and give us better options...

Musa is a good option as 4th choice winger and 5th choice striker and as last night show at the very least he will never lack for effort and has the potential to force his way in

I'd rather we had a young lad in those backup roles than someone on £60-80k per week.

Slimani and Vardy would work fine in a 352.

The problem in the current system is that it forces one striker to drop into midfield. With an extra man it would allow them more freedom to get in the box.
