Leicester City striker Islam Slimani has joined Turkish top-flight side Fenerbahçe on loan for the 2018/19 season.

The 30-year-old Algeria international signed for the Foxes in the summer of 2016 and scored 13 times in 46 appearances for the Club, before heading out on loan to Newcastle United last term.

Slimani joined Leicester City from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon, where he scored more than 50 goals in just over three seasons, while also netting twice for Algeria at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.

He joins a Fenerbahçe side that finished second in the Turkish Super Lig last season and began their new campaign with a 2-1 win at home to Bursaspor on Saturday evening.

In terms of the size of the fee we apparently paid, his ability, fitness issues and that three managers were seemingly unable to integrate him, I would say he is the worst signing the club has ever made.

Face like a smacked arse most of the time too.

I hope he scores an absolute shit load for them. It’s the best way for us to maximise any return we may eventually get.

Thought the same about his loan to Newcastle....hopefully it's better than that but I doubt it.

His goalscoring record for us was far from a disaster. I actually think he was a very good penalty box striker. Unfortuntely he was brought into a team that already had an irreplaceable striker. He was also a poor fit for our style of play. The finger really has to be pointed at the recruitment team.

Talk of it being just shy of £30mil but I doubt we paid anywhere near that given that he wouldn’t have hit many bonus targets with goals etc.
