I suspect it's partly true, as preparation, but I suspect a final decision would be made at the last minute. Tbf, I think Southgate was rightly trying to take some heat off the Wembley 3 (and particularly Saka)

The draw was kind, it has to be said. Part of me wanted Italy to win for that reason alone but then that's tournaments and rankings. A chance missed for England.

Maybe the objectives need be clarified. Taking the knee was never intended to 'solve' racism. It is, in itself, an innocent gesture. A reminder of the issue. There is no need for it to divide. Yet it does. Would we prefer not to be reminded that racism exists and needs addressing?

I guess... He's seen as an ITK so gets fed 'bargaining position' stuff by agent or rep. Then he is increasing used and over used to the point that he is no longer to be believed, credible or ITK. His reputation falls... ...then another ITK appears. And repeat. He's credible until he isn't.

I'm not sure I agree with the logic. That it provides a handy a frame of reference, yes, but race is already an issue, taking the knee or no. For me, taking the knee is peaceful protest. Whilst it is clunky, and sometimes almost cringefully so (commentators' remarks), and arguably gesture...

I don't follow the England team as I've no 'allegiance' but I understand those English that don't because they don't want to be associated with the (admittedly small number of) dickhead 'fans'. It's a real shame that England as a nation is tarnished by the actions of a few.
