They sacked their manager after their losing run, and brought in Dowie. If they had stayed with the manager that got them into that losing run, they would not have been promoted.

Novo would be good, but are you really sure Bridges would be any use? He hasn't scored a goal for something like two or three years. He reminds me of Morris - short, injury prone and not exactly prolific when it comes to scoring goals.

The reason he came was because he was at Bassett's former club, Barnsley and Bassett rated him when was there. The same with Curtis.

I doubt he would be worth it anyway. He hasn't scored a goal for something like 3 years and his work rate doesn't strike me as very high. He didn't do anything at Newcastle this season, Benjamin would probably be a better option for next season.

I reckon Bassett is to blame for some of the awful signings this season as well as this contract mess. For instance Hignett and Curtis both played for him at Barnsley - not a coincidence they came here too.
