Leicester City Agree Çağlar Söyüncü Transfer

Leicester City Football Club can confirm that an agreement has been reached with SC Freiburg for the transfer of defender Çağlar Söyüncü.
  • Leicester City agree transfer for Çağlar Söyüncü from SC Freiburg
  • The 22-year-old centre-back has agreed a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee
  • The Turkey international has featured for his country 15 times
  • The transfer is subject to a work permit being granted
The 22-year-old has agreed personal terms, undergone a medical and signed a five-year contract at King Power Stadium, subject to a work permit being granted.

A Turkish international, Söyüncü made his senior debut for his national side at just 19 years old against Sweden in March 2016 and has since been capped a further 14 times.

Last season, the defender played 30 times for SC Freiburg as his side finished 15th in the Bundesliga, reached the last 16 of the DFB-Pokal and the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League.

Click on one of the links on his wiki page and it's got him playing for the Tigers.

Very happy that we have a centre back squad of Maguire, Evans, Morgan, Soyuncu, Benkovic, Johnson. Compared to last year it's so much stronger as a pool to choose from.
the only place we are light is up top as we've shifted 4 unwanted trikers out this week (rightly so) and not bought one in.

**** he looks good

There are quite a few people online who are suprised we managed to get his signature. He seems to have quite a few admirers across Europe from people 'in the know'.

This probably explains why I know so little about him.

Sounds like a good signing, and rounds off some tidy pre-season business.

Nicely done.

Looks promising.

But we now have about as many centre backs as central midfield! Hopefully they’ll be some foreign suitors for Benalouane, and we find a Championship loan move for Johnson.

Let Morgan have this season and then bow out. Although it wouldn’t surprise me if we give him a new three year contract.
