City midfielder James Wesolowski faces a two-week stint on the sidelines after it was confirmed on Friday morning that he has a thigh strain.
The young Australian was forced out of City's pre-season clash against Boston United on Wednesday evening after just half an hour with the injury.
He was then sent for a scan on the problem area the following day to assess the damage.
And the good news is that Wesolowski should be back in training ahead of the Championship kick off on August 5.
Boss Kelly said: "It is a small strain and we are hopeful that he is not going to be out for a great length of time. We are confident that James will be fit start of season - which is great news for everyone."

Good news that it's not going to keep him out too long, but a shame he is going to miss most of pre-season really, as to be honest in the pictures I've seen he does look a little unfit. Maybe it's just bad pictures, but it looks like he's carrying a little extra weight at the minute..
