Bezos' gain was easy to forecast as soon as the pandemic started. Zuckerberg too with the increase in use across all of his platforms. Gates and Ballmer are Microsoft so their increases were somewhat expected too as with Ellison being in computer software.

Musk and Tesla have been wild these last 12 months. With the Tesla stock price multiplying by almost 8 times in 13 months hence his personal net worth increase. It's crazy considering how many fewer cars he's sold. Still, they're more a tech firm than a car company i guess. Already the world's most valuable whicle maker though. Musk is literally a genius.

Musk is not just Tesla though, the successful Space X round trip to the ISS wouldn't have hurt his wealth.

Forbes estimated the wealth of the family at £5.9bn in March. Now they are saying £3.9bn.

I mean it's all rather irrelevant really. The majority is tied up in the value of the business. Also in the value of any property they've got. Sure there's a huge income void but it's 5 months (so far) vs years and years of giant sales and gains.

It's only temporary as long as they can stay affloat. Thailand will start moving again and as soon as it does, that number will increase again.

It’s really hard isn’t it. Won’t somebody please think of the landlords?!

I wish they would. I'm a landlord and it's bloody tough with all the tenant-favouring laws and new restrictions. I'm not a millionaire, just someone who wants to secure his future!!!!

Almost all of his wealth increase is from the TSLA stock increase. Space X will have contributed little to nothing to his increase.

When TSLA gets included in the S&P500 the company value is going to increase some more. More accurately, when the announcement is made then it'll increase.

You and the thousands of other private landlords who collectively help increase property values and make renting the same cost per month as owning a house.

Heaven forbid the poor sods who pay your mortgage get some favourable laws to protect them.

Vast generalisation.

Also i don't set the property prices. Supply and demand does.

I have one additional property for which i pay plenty of taxes. I am an excellent landlord providing accommodation for a family at a fair and reasonable rate of rent. Everything is always up to scratch and sorted out. My previous tenant was disabled and i made numerous alterations to help him.

My property allows a family to have a roof over their heads. They can't afford to buy because they don't have enough money for a deposit. No other reason.

I worked hard, had some luck and managed to take a risk and take a mortgage out. Where's the crime in that? Do you not aim to save money? Invest? Build a future?

And the laws are ridiculous. I had a tenant a few years ago who signed the tenancy agreement. Then constantly avoided my calls when he was weeks late with rent. Ended up in huge arrears. Turns out he was sub-letting my property, making huge sums and then keeping the profit whilst not paying rent. It took months before i could get him out. And he wrecked the entire house before he left.

But no let's vilify Nick who decided to work hard and try to make something of himself.

Stupid socialists.

Heaven forbid the poor sods who pay your mortgage and leave you with a tidy profit get some favourable laws to protect them.

Corrected that for you.

Corrected that for you.

If you think for one second it's a tidy profit, then you are literally clueless. Insurances, repairs, taxes, mortgages, dealing with late rent, non-payment, property damage, bills. You have zero idea; it's hilarious. Being a landlord can be a full time job.

Apparently there's some sort of nobility in being poor is there? I wish i could have more wealth. And anyone who says they don't is lying. I'm proud of working hard and doing my best.

There ain't no shame in furthering your wealth. We live in a capialist society and it's the rules of the game. If you wanna move to Venezuela then go. Get off your high horses as well. As if you've never tried to make some money and build a future. You're a bunch of miserable ****s sometimes - the types of people who miss being in the Championship and would prefer it over the PL.

We've been in the Championship and we've been in the PL, and the PL beats it every time. I've been poor and I've been wealthier relatively speaking and being wealthier beats being poor every time.

Private landlords create extra demand, which increases prices.

Having a minimal effect on rising house prices. And if that's the case, then you can make a case that every money-making method will have a negative effect on somewhere or something somewhere. Shall we just stay poor instead?

This is going to go well....

Haha. I don't actually care about all of this. Probably the boredom and hours of watching nothing movies.

Mind you, got work to do now. Gotta keep on being that greedy landlord with the grand total of one property. Funnily enough, I'm looking to sell the home i live in so i can rent instead. But no, once again let's assume every landlord is a knob who's loaded.

1 Fair

2 Hate this argument, truly hate it. Private landlording creates higher demand for a lot of those first-time buyer properties becuase of the rental income, which is driven by housebuilders and government inaction. Same argument as Pimps.

3 Then you aren't really the issue we're referring to. I was more talking about city centre landlords driving rents up when the high street is clearly struggling. Short termism at its finest and the reason why shops in particualr should be owned by local councils and managed sensibly rather than raffled off to Rich Uncle Pennybags who really couldn't give a ****.

4 This is the main problem with the way the housing market goes, so basically you're making money off them because you had more, which is the issue we're highlighting

5 The laws aren't perfect and yes the market is ruined by idiots on both sides who do things wrong.

6 Ultimately the problem lies in simply not enough houses being built, which is a failing of government and private housebuilders who have a vested interest in seeing prices rise. It's shit that it's almost impossible to fix.

I understand your perspective and everyone has their own view on this.
(Having started it, this needs to either be moved to a new thread or not be talked about any more!!)

Gates is going to make even more with his pharmacetucal company and Musk's stock will inrease with the roll out of his 5G satellite network.

Stop believing what you read on Facebook.
