Yep I’m already feeling the sense of entitlement as last season. Of course we’ll just turn up and get promoted.

No problem hiring a bloke with barely any managerial experience, as we’ll just go up with whoever is in charge, because we’re Leicester City and we deserve to be in the Premier League.

I’m sorry to disappoint you folks, but this season is going to be another shit storm of the highest order.

I feel very similar but it's far too early to write us off as much as it is absurd to predict that we'll bounce straight back.

None of us have a clue what sort of squad we'll have yet. There are huge changes required in/out and these will determine whether the new coach has a chance to establish himself.

The only things we can collectively take from where we are with six weeks until the start of the season is that we're massively behind in our preparation, the internal review hasn't resulted in significant changes in personnel, our preseason plan is stupid, we have no support staff in place to work with the new coach, we have loads of players that don't want to be here or are the wrong characters for the fight ahead, we need lots of new players soon, and our finances are a total shit show.

All that doesn't mean we can't get promotion. It means that making us favourites is insane.

The manager having **** all experience isn't giving me much optimism. All the other shit concerns me more than that though. Recruitment guy is still the same, squad still full of the perfect mix of shit and couldn't give a shit. Our ridiculous pre season scheduling too.

The preseason plan is very very stupid.

I’ll hold serve on the rest of it until I see some signings.

I can't even imagine who's going to be in the team for the Northampton game.

Surely not worth us giving any game time to players like Maddison, Barnes who will be on their way out. But seems unlikely we're going to have done much business by then. It's about 3 weeks away

I say again, bookies don't make whoever is most likely to go up the favourites. They make a book; that's why they're called bookmakers. The purpose of the book is to make a profit so the team that is attracting the most wagers is given the tightest odds. It's not therefore the bookies that think we're favourites; they're just protecting their interests.

I choose optimism tainted by trepidation.

Let’s wait and see!

Why is it unlikely?

It's possible that contracts for the preseason games were signed months ago and it would cost a fortune to break them.

It was stupid even for a Prem team, but yes even worse now.

I miss proper pre-seasons that weren't all about "profile-raising" fixtures

That's right Boc, it's not the bookies saying we're most likely to go up, it's the public, which, as Brexit and the last few elections have shown, are reet thick ****s.

I remember you saying that before and thinking then, as I do now, that it was a clear distangling/dismembering of a commenly held misbelief, one that I unwittingly held too (because I hadn't thought about it)

You're quite right. Bookies odds and 'most likely' are different things. The odds derived are an enticement to bet. Bookies want to lure you in, get you to part with your hard earned. Odds are a market judgement and not intended as an indicator of form or whatever.

Glad that is cleared up then.
