Re: Hotmail migration to pop3

Is anyone trying to get Hotmail set up for pop3 on Outlook 2002? They are moving it to a pop3 server from Sept 1st, but I can't get the settings to work despite following the instructions given

I'm not the only one either:

Anyone here got it sorted :102:

If they're not moving it until 1st Sept, what makes you think it should work now?

It might be something to do with your ISP.

Some ISPs block outgoing mail connections on port 25, or redirect them to their own mail servers.
You might be able to make it work if you use your ISP's SMTP settings with Hotmail's POP3 settings.

That's the deadline for making the change. From Sept 1st the DAV system they currently use will cease.

But I'm also getting an error message about the incoming mail settings

Log on to incoming mail server (pop3): Unable to log on to the incoming mail server (POP3). Please verify the settings in the User Name, Password and E-mail fields

Also trying port 587 as well as this seems to have most success from the messages on the board.

Seems to be a fair lot of angst out there about Outlook 2002 and this change, so it's definitely not just me. :bang:

Re: Hotmail migration to pop3

Have you checked your firewall settings?

I have, I can't see anything that would stop hotmail (the msn live pop3 server I should say) specifically and it works for all my other pop3 accounts.

Of course I might not be looking in the right place
