Back to 3-5-2
O'neill going to Villa (who will definitely switch to 3 at the back) begs the question, should Leicester go back to the formation that has historically served them best? 3-5-2.
It Keeps us strong in the air at the back (we have a lot of depth in the centre of defence) and allows us to play it out without lumping it down the flanks. It also means that our wide players (whoever gets chosen) will start off further up the pitch. and be able to support/service Our front two in a way that has been lacking for at least a season.
Not to go on, but it also allows us to play three in midfield, which would help given that it has been consistently proved that no two of our current midfield can hold the ball meaningfully for any length of time. Wesolowski and two of Johnson, Williams and Hughes would work better than two playing on their own. Admittedly the lack of A Lennon, Izzet, Parker or Scott Taylor, along with the lack of pace/quality down the flanks is at the core of our consistent underperformance, but a formation that puts less stress on areas in which we are weak would help be better way forward than the fragile 4-4-2 that we currently use. After all, there is no money available to bring in players of the quality we were used to having in key positions at City
