Durham Fox

El Dude Brother.
Looking at the current squad, assuming Dublin resigns and the remainder of the players out of contract don't get offered deals as expected then our squad stands like this....

Canero - not liked by CL, unproven at this level
Tiatto - proven but often injured/suspended
Hughes - quality
Heath - again no liked by CL, bakup at best
Dublin? - quality assuming he resigns
Stewart - hit and miss, although competent
Williams - should do well given the right style of play
Stearman - unsure of his situation next season, second choice RB?? not sure CL will play him at CB
Connolly - proven goal scorer
McCarthy - Looks good but as yet unproven at this level
Gudjonsson - unconvinced by him, will he still be here in August?
Wright - out of his depth
Maybury - quality
De Vries - proven goalscorer at a similar level, fans could easily destroy him
Morris - sicknote
Dawson - unproven
Sheehan - unproven, looks to have promise
Logan - rubbish
O’Grady - unproven
Hirschfeld - unproven
Sturm - unproven
Kisnorbo - unproven, bad reports from scotland, must be given a chance though

Adding 4 names to that still makes it look a bit light to me. Assuming we sign a first choice keeper, a striker and 2 utility type player of the type CL has mentioned, I am not convinced. Surely the savings we are making across the board would allow us to sign 6-8 championship level players?

Based on what we have currently our best XI in my eyes is....

Hirschfeld

Maybury
McCarthy
Stearman??
Stewart

Hughes
Williams
Gudjonsson
Tiatto

Connolly
Dublin??

With little or no experienced cover on the bench.

These 4 players need to be dynamite!

Time for a reality check, I'm afraid. We are in for a long haul back - if we ever make it at all

Prepare yourself for a long hard season where consolidation will be the aim - and a play off place would be an added bonus if we're very very lucky

This period we are in now so reminds me of the 80's. :? :? :? :-( :-( ;-)

CL has stated though that our budget will be amongst the top 4 or 5 in the division again. Why does this exclude is from mounting a serious promotion challenge?

CL has also said that there will be more players leaving!! So we need to dump 10+ players on Premiership salaries on the whole to bring in some muppett from Celtic and Bradford's reserve keeper?

Do I not like the look of where we are heading.

This forum can be depressing, it really can!

I don't expect to win the league, but I hope that we can move at the very least in the right direction, and towards the top 6. Come on! Where are you!

We need one of MK's rousing speeches...

That piccie of Delia is arousing though, you've got to admit - especially the positioning of the microphone, the dirty cow

:D
Thought this thread was about how Highland likes his old ladies but nevermind...

It'll be a long time before we're back in the Prem, let alone the top 10.
Silverware? My arse...

But it's OK, we've had some unexpected success in recent years, more than we should expect to be fair. Back to reality now though chaps, mid second division club, occasionally flirting with the play offs, but equally capable of giving us relegation worries until the end of the season.
Why wasn't I born in Barcelona or Madrid? ;-)

I would, purely for the celebrity factor

Great minds, Hf, great minds

The thought of tucking in to her fried eggs is something we all hold dear

Keep away from her black pudding though :?
