White signs on
Date: Tuesday 22 February 2011
Wayne White has signed a contract for the 2009 season at Leicestershire CCC.
The 23-year-old all-rounder, who initially joined the club in pre-season following his release from Derbyshire, has impressed County's coaches in both the games he has played in and in his attitude and work-rate off the field.
This has led to him being offered a deal for the current campaign, and White has appeared in the opening two first-class games of the season against Loughborough UCCE and the current match against Notts.
Senior Coach Tim Boon feels White offers the club plenty and has an important role to play at Grace Road. He said: "Wayne is a talented young seamer who offers us lots with both bat and ball - we have seen that from him already in the games so far.
"He will get better and better as the season progresses. We welcome him to Grace Road and wish him every success."
White, known as 'Chalky', has already settled into life at the club, and is looking forward to the new challenge.
A talented all-round sportsman, he also played football at semi-professional level in goal for Long Eaton. He also appeared for Burton Albion and Gresley Rovers.
