We have known about Elliot signing his contract cancellation for some time now but its not been publicly announced.

Any chance we are delaying the announcement as we have a signing in the offing and we dont want to alert the sellers that we have a few extra quid as it might drive the price up?

We are hardly saving a fortune, so it wouldn't make that much difference. We're still skint.

In my most optimistic moments I am hoping the club has delayed the announcement so it wasn't lost amongst all the other stuff, and thereby giving Matty the attention he deserves for all his service to the club.

If the sums Matty is reported to be on are true and if the deal Benjamin got was also true then we are saving enough to buy someone like Kirk.

Say Elliot is on £20k a week (conservative I believe) Thats £80k a month and say we saved 3 months of his remaining 6 month contract (As reported with Benji). The thats an overall saving of £240k. Surely enough to finance a move for Kirk (or similar) and pay his wages until the end of the season.

Yeah, with Kirk I'm sure £240k would be enough to sign him (although I think Elliott was on more than that), plus his wages would probably be less than Keown's.

You could be right, we could sign someone from this. I'd get a new CB next though.

If there is any left over a loan deal is the best we can hope for on the new faces front.

I think we have some of this seasons budget to play with now. Do the sums. Assuming we were on level terms before Levein arrived. Since then we have released..

Elliott - Potential saving £240k?
Benji - Potential saving £175k?
Pressman - Potential saving £40k?
Keown - Potential saving £200k?
£655k?

Now the the only additions to this seasons budget so far are...

Maybury - £180k?
De Vries - £180k?
Hischfeld - £40k?
£400k?

Taylor took us over-budget, dont forget as well staff should also be included in the wage budget, probably takes up the rest of that 240k in the compo we would have had to pay for all the new coaches

What about Taylor? His wages must have been about 10K. I can't seeing us having much, if anything to spend. We used next seasons budget to bring in who we have.
Don't think we'll sign anyone else.

You could say 20k a week but its actually 32k rising to 35k this year (loyalty bonus)
