Saints U18s 2 Leicester U18s 3

The Orchard Homes Saints Academy wrapped up their league campaign today with a double defeat at the hands of Leicester at Staplewood.

In a fiercely competitive Under 18s game Josh Dutton-Black and Tim Sparv found the net for Saints as they matched the Foxes blow for blow in the first half with the scores 2-2 at the interval.

The visitors nicked one twenty minutes from time to steal the points but it does not affect Saints place in the league after they clinched the title back in March.

They will now play Blackburn in the play-off semi-finals on May 7.

Saints Under 16s were pegged back by two late goals to lose by the same result as the senior side.

After the visitors had taken an early lead Aristoteles De Carvalho and Joseph Mills scored either side of half-time to put Saints ahead. But with only one substitute available to Andy Ritchie and suspected Ankle ligament damage to Michael Byrne in the first half legs inevitably tired late in the game to let the Foxes back in.

Not much about the City players in there. :D :D :D   ;-)

Academy Bow Out In Style

Leicester City's under 18 side posted an impressive 3-2 victory over FA Youth Cup finalists Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

The Foxes went into the game having won seven out of their last eight fixtures.

And that remarkable run continued as the Foxes overcame the highly rated Saints.

James Graham and Louis Dodds added to a Southampton own goal, and afterwards Academy Director Jon Rudkin was full of praise for his young charges.

He said: "We were outstanding against a strong Southampton side and I cannot praise the players enough for their efforts.

"We will now spend the next fortnight in preparation for a tournament in Holland which we hope to win. That would be a great way to end the campaign."
