But better still go to a meeting. You'll love it.

First Coventry meeting of the 2006 season on Saturday 1st April 2006

for more details go to http://stoxnet.com

There is 1 meeting scheduled there this year, on Sunday Aug 27th.

There was talk of it closing, but they have just redone the bends, to improve the racing line I believe.

Are you a speedway fan Hazz?

Yes, I'm a Speedway fan.

Wimbledon Dons the speedway team from Plough Lane were ordered to close down this year by the G.R.A because they werent making enough money from the refreshments etc. They were getting paid the rent. And the next I heard was that Stock Cars was next for the chop. The G.R.A (Greyhounds ? Association) I hear are wanting to sell their tracks, these include many Stock Cars and Speedway tracks.

It seems that alot of the decent Stock car / Speedway tracks have been lost over the years, Never been down to Wimbo, but heard it was a decent place.

Is it right they tried to double or triple the rent for the speedway before getting rid of them?

Anyone ever seen A1 Racing? Instead of big manufacturers, the teams are into countries and all the cars are the same so anyone can win!

Unlike F1, a sport dominated by money, where Renault win because they have the fastest cars!

Yes, that is true. To cover the loss expenses of refreshments and the restaurant not doing well. They upped the cost of the club and I'm pretty sure this year Wimbledon would have been bought out by B.S.I. (the company which owns the rights to Speedway World Championship) as they have just bought Reading, why?, nearest club to London.

Stock Cars and Speedway tracks are on the wain, although a couple more opened up this season. Both sports have probelms with the planning permission. Speedway has a number of kingpins involved in the top division which has been good, money now circulating around the League.

They has just been a mass blow-up in Speedway world about how someone tried to get Second Division and Third Division Speedway on a satellite tv channel, the British Board turned down the chance because no money would go to them, they were ONLY getting FREE advertisement. Sky current covers Elite League Speedway, top division and it gets the third biggest viewing figures behind Football and Cricket.
