We have a new assistant manager

Leicester City can today announce a restructure of Manager Claude Puel’s First Team coaching staff ahead of the 2018/19 season.

Jacques Bonnevay – a respected coach of nearly 20 years’ experience – has joined the Club as Claude’s new Assistant Manager. They will be supported by the senior coaching team of Pascal Plancque, Mike Stowell and new First Team Coach Adam Sadler.

Meanwhile, the Club has reached an agreement with Michael Appleton that will see him leave his assistant managerial position with immediate effect.

Leicester City Manager Claude Puel said: “As we prepare to welcome the players back for the start of pre-season, I’m delighted to have a strong team of experienced, skilled and dedicated staff working to prepare the squad for the season ahead.

“Between our coaching, sports medicine, sports science and operational staff, we have a very good mix of characters and experience that will give great support to our players throughout the season.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Michael Appleton for everything he has done to help me during his time with the Club. He’s a good man, a strong character and an excellent coach with the leadership qualities to continue building a successful career. We all wish him well in his future career.”

Following a distinguished playing career with FC Sochaux, Olympique Marseille, Le Havre, OGC Nice and Red Star, Frenchman Jacques Bonnevay started a journey as a coach that would take him to three different continents in club and international football.

As well as spells with AS Beauvais, Troyes AC, Angers SCO and FC Nantes in his native France, Jacky, 57, has coached in Morocco, the UAE, Turkey and most recently spent three years on the coaching staff of the Japanese national team.

Newcastle-born Adam Sadler, 38, joined the Foxes as a tactical analyst in 2014 and has become a valued part of the First Team setup over the last four years, increasing his coaching responsibilities in the last 12 months.

Having been on the books of Manchester United as a young player, he turned to coaching aged 20 and worked for over eight years at Newcastle United in a number of coaching roles, including reserve team manager. Following spells with Norwich City and Plymouth Argyle, he spent two seasons as Under-18 coach at Manchester City before joining Leicester following the Club’s promotion to the Premier League.

Claude Puel and his staff will begin preparations for the new Premier League campaign on Monday when the first group of players report back to Belvoir Drive for pre-season training.

Monday’s group will not include players involved in international matches after 2 June, whose return to training will be staggered over the coming weeks.

No surprise, if Poo-smell was staying

Maybe me, but they didn't look to be the best of friends

Stowell FFS....

I echo many people's thoughts...
Mike Stowell, what does he bring to the table?
He's outlasting all our recent managers, why?

How long has Mike Stowell actually been at the club now?

Our managers must see something in him as they've all kept him.

I wonder if the people at the club, including numerous managers and one that one us the PL, know more about what Mike Stowell offers as a coach than some random men on a forum?

Seems absurd to me that the owners keep him on when many on here know for a fact that he's shit at his job, utterly absurd.

Well Mr Gwilliam seems to like him, I seem to remember, for his comedy value? so he must have his fans in the LCFC set up too.

I had a feeling Appleton was on his way out as towards the end of the season he seemed to be a guest on a number of BBC footy programmes for no real reason, and he seemed to be given his opinion in a way that highlighted his tactics/knowledge of the game.

Also as it's been said on here after a period when he was sat next to Puel and they were often shown in deep conversation during the game, suddenly after a game, quite remember which, the next game every shot of them they looked stone faced and not talking at all. This was followed up by them not sitting next to each other at all.

.

The bench will be duller without Stone Cold He exuded even more menace than Gary Taylor Fletcher. Is there no chance of them bringing in Marcin Wasilewski as manager with Mike Appleton in the Taylor Fletcher role of accomplice?

At least you've still got Marvellous Mike Stowell to keep your eye on.

I’m confused, seems this guy is still with us? I thought we lost him pre season?!!

Clearly I have missed stuff.
