So we finish the season with an average of 31,693 at each match. This breaks the club record from 1957/8 of 31,359.

I believe that every home ticket was sold throughout the season which is excellent. As is the fact that the club confirmed today that all 23,000 season tickets have been sold for next season without them being available on general sale.

We were the 12th best supported team in England in 2014/15, comfortably exceeding the support for so-called similar sized clubs like WBA or Stoke. The team immediately above us in the rankings is Villa.

It's clear that there is no sense in maintaining this level of support and not increasing the stadium capacity. On the other hand, a bigger stadium is a pointless white elephant in the Championship. At what point should the owners look to add the extra 8,000 seats onto the East, North stands?

I doubt we'll ever achieve anything above 36-38k so I'd limit to that and I'd probably wait until we've been comfortable Le for two seasons.

consolidate for at least another season or two I reckon.

The owners will see that demand is exceeding supply and the exclusivity that creates in peoples minds and want to capitalise eventually.

Would be brilliant to have another tier and actually sell it out for the majority of games, an expansion of the stadium will be an attraction for new punters all on it's own.

I think perhaps one more season with a finish above this one and then we should build to 38k. If we can currently sell 23k with no general sale then there seems to be no reason to look to improve the capacity to 40k plus (subject to planning of course).

I think we could have sold 35-37k this season for every game comfortably.

i think the best would be to push for the seated standing areas that are used elsewhere. would help the atmosphere further as well maybe?

The 'clappers' are managing to do just fine on that score.

That'll be - elsewhere in the world but not allowed in the Premier League?

I would fear that IF (which is a big IF) we stayed in the PL for 3/4 years then our average attendance would start to dip anyway, too many fickle boneheads

You'd certainly get some moaning if we didn't push on each year and end up in Europe within 4 years.

In one of Vichai's first press conferences after taking over the club five years ago, he said that he had a target of expanding the stadium to 40,000-42,000 within five years.

They purchased the stadium in 2013 which was the first step. Now we're in the Premier League and selling out every game. If they had the intention to do so anyway, it's difficult to argue against doing it sooner rather than later.

I would guess that doing it this summer was out because our commitments to staging Rugby World Cup matches made it impossible to consider. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see plans unveiled to build up the ground this time next year.
