Trains from London have been stopped on the Bank Holiday weekend, 27 August Vrs. Luton.

Anyone know if any football trains are running?

You'll still be able to get to the match. There's engineering work between Kettering and Bedford, so you'll be able to get a train, but the Bedford to Kettering bit is by coach.

Or if you want to stick to trains all the way you could go via Nuneaton or Peterborough, you'll just have to buy separate tickets for the two parts of the journey.

Surely I've already said there will be coaches between Bedford and Kettering.

Ovioulsly I don't have such wisdom of the rail network and the stops between Leicester and London as you do. Although I think I can be forgiven as I have never once travelled by train from London to Leicester, or visa versa.

However despite this I was recently told its only 1 hour 15 mins from London to Leicester but 1:45 from London to Birmingham! Cosindering all the money spent on the west coast mainline I would of expected it to of been quicker, especially with those tiltling trains.

You're probably best going by National Express, horrible as it is, or there's the Big Blue Bus with its £1 fares, I've never dared use it though, sounds horrific...

Megabus.com runs only one return service between London and Leicester each day. The Northbound journey is well-timed, arriving in Gravel Street at 13:30 - but to catch the service back to London, you would need to miss most of the 2nd half, departure being at 16:45.
