If only more councils would ban people from playing crap music...
Woman banned from playing power ballads
A music-loving mum was gagged from playing her favourite "power ballads" at home on Monday after enraging neighbours with her singalongs.
Janice Lee, 37, enjoyed joining in hits like Queen's We Are The Champions and Europe's The Final Countdown on her favourite Power Ballads CD.
The mum-of-four was given the Very Best of Power Ballads set for a birthday present from her kids - and played it day-and-night.
But a court was given a list of her favourite top 20 singalong songs - and banned her from playing music at home for 18 months.
Heartbroken Janice said: "We can't afford to go out much so one or two friends would regularly come over.
"We would have a singalong to the music although I admit it was after midnight sometimes.
"Everybody was just happy - I was i n my own home enjoying myself.
"I didn't mean to offend anybody. I'm just having a laugh."
Carer Janice, who says her favourite band are Bon Jovi, was "gutted" at the court action after the singalongs.
She is now planning to move from her home in Gabalfa, Cardiff, to somewhere she can enjoy music.
She said: "It make me look like some sort of criminal." But neighbours Mike and Karen Rowley applauded the court action for finally silencing the Power Ballads.
Mike, 51, said: "We were aware of the noise as soon as she moved in. I asked her to keep it down.
"The music would go on until 2am and they would all be singing. It was all this 1980's stuff - it was like screaming." Karen, 47, said: "It has made us feel like prisoners in our own home." Janice - mum of Sarah, 19, Kevin, 17, Sammy, 16, and Danny, 10 - was given an Asbo banning her from playing loud music for 18 months.
She also had her CD player and speakers confiscated by magistrates in Cardiff.
A spokeswoman for Cardiff council defended the decision to take Janice to court over her Power Ballads songs.
She said: "Noise affects the quality of life of everyone. It can make life miserable for all concerned."
Her favourite playlist was Queen - We Are The Champions; Foreigner - I Want to Know What Love Is; Whitesnake - Is This Love; Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes - Up Where We Belong; Tina Turner - We Don't Need Another Hero; Cher - If I Could Turn Back Time; Cutting Crew - I Just Died in Your Arms; Meatloaf - Bat Out of Hell; Marillion - Kayleigh; Starship - Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now; Robbie Williams - Angels; The Cars - Drive; Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin; Nilsson - Without You; Bonnie Tyler - Holding Out for a Hero; Europe - The Final Countdown; Whitesnake - Here I Go Again; Alannah Myles- Black Velvet; T'Pau - China in Your Hand; Simple Minds - Alive and Kicking.
