Leicester - Barnsley off-peak return = £29.10

Leicester - Derby off-peak day return = £9.20
Derby - Sheffield off-peak day return = £9.60
Sheffield - Barnsley off-peak day return = £4.40


And don't forget that you can avoid the risk of getting an uncooperative booking clerk by booking online and collecting all your tickets from the ticket machine at the station just before you leave.

Don't forget group save if 3 or 4 are travelling together. Although I always struggle to get this online.

East Midlands Trains have cut back a lot on GroupSave tickets; I'm not sure that the offer would apply in this case.

thetrainline.com will allow you to book GroupSave online but it doesn't offer them in this case.

When I tried to book the tickets to Nottingham for 4 of us, I couldn't get the offer on Trainline or EMT, but did get it at the station. Maybe I did something wrong on the websites

Best advice is to get it at the station then - but definitely not available on the Sheffield -> Barnsley leg.
